Born from the whims of the relief and the fervour of an Abbot, it makes its appearance at the bend in the path that climbs to the Chapelle Largeau. Like a guide or a lighthouse, soothing by its serene presence, and so eternal: the Chapel of Saint Joseph stands at the top of the Ouin Valley. The traveller may be astonished, moved or meditate in front of this majesty. It proudly dominates this valley, at the bottom of which, the river Ouin, runs alongside, meanders and separates, sometimes the Maine et Loire, the Vendée or the Deux Sèvres. This site comprises blocks of white quartz recognised in 1909 as a Monument and Site of Natural Interest. The site of the Pyrôme rocks used to be inhabited by goblins. According to legend, every year at the stroke of midnight on Christmas Eve, one of the huge blocks of rock would rise up and the goblins would appear offering their treasure, hidden there, to anyone who would agree to give up their place in Paradise. The campsite The camping area at the Ferme de la Maison Neuve is limited to 6 pitches. It is located in the middle of the farm, between the meadow plots, the farm buildings and the direct sales shop. The campsite does not have marked-out pitches, but rather a large grassy area with easy access and plenty of shade. A children's play structure is available, under the responsibility of parents. Each pitch has an electric hook-up (see details in the price list at the bottom of the page). The Caravan This little vintage caravan, which sleeps one or two people, has come to life since its arrival at the farm. This simple yet cosy little cocoon awaits you for a break of one or more nights. If you're travelling light, we can prepare the bedding with sheets and duvet before you arrive. Le Refuge du Campeur The campsite has an open-access wooden shelter equipped with a fridge, electric oven, hotplates, coffee maker, crockery and cutlery. This shelter is extended by a terrace covered by a canvas structure, which makes it a very pleasant place in the summer. The Refuge du Campeur is a place where everyone must respect each other's rhythm and tranquillity, but also a place where you can get together to share a meal, a chat or a cup of tea before a good night's sleep... In short, it's a place where people can get together and talk! The toilets are all located close to the camping area (20 to 50m) and are divided into 2 blocks. The first part, adjoining the farm shop and heated in winter, has a large shower, a large washbasin and WC. The second part, made of timber frames, has a toilet, a shower cubicle and a drying area for towels. An outdoor stainless steel sink is reserved for washing up and other laundry. In autumn and winter, the campsite is only open to tourists and workers (for short stays) in motorhomes or recent '4-season' caravans (excluding double-axles), i.e. double-glazed, insulated and with integrated heating.
