The Bollée wind turbine, located on the Beauval estate in Bassens, is the result of the work of Auguste Bollée, a hydraulic engineer. The village of Cavernes is located in a meander on the left bank of the Dordogne, upstream from the Bec d'Ambès and downstream from Libourne. It is part of the commune of Saint-Loubès which appeared with its port around the 12th century. Most of its activities revolve around the river between river transport and fishing.
