Actual departure from Archettes, but this loop passes through Gérardmer. This loop is designed for sporty cyclists. From Archettes, you cross the Moselle to reach Arches, where the signposts lead you along a hilly, shady road to Remiremont. Be careful approaching the junction with Route Nationale 57, where traffic is heaviest. You pass through Remiremont, skirting the railroad line and then the lake. You then follow the left bank into the Moselotte valley as far as Vagney. This is where the mountain section begins, with 4 cols in succession: a demanding 28-kilometer route that follows the route of the 2014 Tour de France. From La Mauselaine, take the Dix-Sept Kilomètres (*) forest road back to the center of Gérardmer. After a good descent, you can recuperate by skirting the lake before returning to Vagney via the last pass and then Archettes via the right bank of the Moselle. Variant: for purists wishing to follow in the footsteps of the Tour de France pros, on leaving La Bresse on the Col de Grosse Pierre, turn left onto the Chemin de la Roche for 3 kilometers (7.5% average gradient, with one section at 16%).

Access: From Remiremont, take the expressway towards Epinal, exit towards Eloyes. Parking: Park in the large car park in the centre of Eloyes, after the church on the right. Distance: 3.5 km / Duration: 1 h 15 / Difference in altitude: 30 m / Markings: green ring 1) From the car park, cross the road and go down opposite towards the Moselle, take the footbridge that crosses it, continue straight ahead and take another one. footbridge which again crosses the Moselle. 2) After this crossing, turn left to go around the Etang du Chêna along the Moselle and return by the left side of the pond. 3) Go back along the meadow, don't cross the Moselle again but go straight up to reach the road which, when you continue, joins the car park.

Starting from the Eloyes village hall, you will make your way through the town hall grounds before joining a path that climbs upwards. There are a few stones and roots on the path, so you can work on planting your poles. Once at the top, you complete a loop before starting a short but straightforward climb that takes you to a flat area. The descent is on a wide path, then you work on your pole planting on a short single-track climb before returning gently to the starting point.

Steeped in history and remarkable natural sites, the massif of Fossard rises above Docelles. The loop of the Haut du Bois is starting from this small town with rich history in the paper industry and crossed by the Vologne and the Barba rivers. Enjoy this varied route where forest roads alternate with wide open spaces. Numerous points of views of the surrounding valleys await you. Without any serious difficulties except its distance, this hike allows discovering among others the Auberge du Ruxelier where it is good to eat or stay in the heart of the Vosges nature. At daybreak, the luckiest visitors may even spot wild animals.

Access : From Remiremont, direction Epinal, exit Eloyes, cross the Moselle, then direction St-Etienne-les-Rt and Le Frêne. Parking : Le Frêne (near the transformer). Distance : 4,3 km / Duration : 2 h / Difference in altitude : 140 m / Marking : red ring. 1) Take the marked path in front of you between two property fences. 2) Further up, ignore the signposted path "direction les cuveaux" and continue to the right. Go along a clearing, then a stone wall. 3) At the crossroads above a small chalet, turn left onto the forest road of Groshaut (at the edge of the small road). 4) Before the chalet, turn left following the signs. Go back and forth to the rocks and then turn left to the lookout. 5) At the belvedere, take the stony and marked path that goes down then join the road that goes down to the parking.

Leaving Le Frêne, you take a very short tarmac section before arriving on a narrow, steep path that climbs up to the head of the basins. You arrive at this very popular site via a little-known path that allows you to admire the lower part of the rock of the cuveaux before enjoying the sublime view over the Moselle valley and the plain. You then continue along a very pleasant path for a few hundred metres before reaching the belvedere. Once at the top of the belvedere, you can enjoy a breathtaking 360° view of the Vosges massif. The descent is via a different route, bringing you to the end of the route at Le Frêne.

The Éloyes maquis was born out of the refusal of the Service du Travail Obligatoire (S.T.O.) and became a combat unit integrated into the Forces Françaises de l'Intérieur des Maquis des Vosges. Its members carried out armed actions and distributed leaflets and newspapers calling for resistance, paying a heavy price to liberate the Éloyes region. A commemorative stele, erected on the heights of Éloyes, honours their memory. To get there, simply follow the signposts from the church.

This promontory at 745m overlooks the Moselle valley and offers magnificent views. Hollows cut into the sandstone measuring around 70cm in diameter have earned this plateau the name of ‘Tête des Cuveaux’, and bear witness to the presence of ancient glaciers: water from streams flowing over the surface of these glaciers would have produced these erosions. These cup-shaped rocks give off a powerful natural magnetism, suggesting that this place has been known for thousands of years by other civilisations. At just 470 metres, a 9-metre-high lookout equipped with an orientation table and educational panels stands at the highest point, at an altitude of 783 metres. Access: hike from the Club Vosgien topo-guide. Head towards le Frêne / le Croc, straight on at the transformer, then pass the cross at the car park.

Looking for a panoramic and surprising view? Would you like to be in the heights and appreciate the nature that dominates our territory? The Tête des Cuveaux lookout allows you to do just that, and much more. After a walk on one of the paths proposed by the Club Vosgien, it is time to enjoy and appreciate the dance of the mists over the valley. The Tête des Cuveaux lookout is 9m high and overlooks the trees. It has an orientation table which will allow you to spot the emblematic points offered by this viewpoint. Educational panels are set up at the top of the observation tower to give you information about the surrounding countryside.

The stele at Noirgueux commemorates the crossing of the Moselle by soldiers of the 36th American Infantry Division on 21 September 1944, during their mission to liberate the town of Remiremont. These soldiers risked their lives in this historic operation. Every year, a commemorative ceremony with realistic re-enactments takes place on the same date. The municipality of Saint-Nabord has also created an educational trail dedicated to the Noirgueux moraine to help understand this event.

Site presenting a set of 4 moraine arcs remained identical to what they were when the glacier formed them there are about 15 000 years. The Noirgueux site is a cluster of pebbles, gravel and sand accumulated at the end of the glacier down to the Vosges mountains that stretched nearly 40Km in the Moselle valley in the last glaciation. An educational trail was created on top of a Local Historic Place WW2, where military action enabled the release of Remiremont on 09/21/1944. Access: From Remiremont, take the D157 exit (Saint-Nabord / Peuxy), then ZI Eloyes / Saint-Nabord and immediately right the Pins Trail. Turn left and take the path Longeroye. The mill was created in 1803 by the BEXON family. There were also a hemp pestle and a starch factory (between 1848 and 1888), an oil mill (until 1936), a clog factory (until 1949) and a Haut-Fer sawmill (until 1980). The Dinozé American Cemetery is a place marked by history and a reminder of the tragedies of the Second World War. It contains 5,253 graves in two fan-shaped plots and 424 names engraved on the wall of the missing ones. This place instantly takes us to the heart of our past, heavy with emotion and memories. These impeccably and meticulously tended grounds and gardens of the cemetery and the serenity of its surroundings give no hint of the fierce, bitter and savage fighting that cost the lives of so many who lie here. Under each of these headstones lies a soldier with unfulfilled dreams, and this guided walk invites you to discover some of them. We are honoured every time a soldier’s family comes to visit the grave of a deceased soldier. We also hold several ceremonies throughout the year to honour our soldiers. A memorial overlooks the soldiers' graves, with a coloured glass mosaic illustrating the Toulon landings that led to the liberation of Epinal and a chapel with a sculpture of the Angel of Peace. The Dinozé American Cemetery is a place of remembrance but also of exchange and reflection on history. "We do not forget, we shall never forget, the debt of infinite gratitude we owe to those who gave everything for our liberation.”

Discover a rich collection of furniture, clothes and objects illustrating everyday life in the Vosges in the last century. A faithful reconstruction of a Vosges house reveals the kitchen, bedrooms and traditional living areas, surrounded by old tools and know-how. A model room features a paper mill, a grain mill and a blast furnace, illustrating traditional methods using water as a driving force. Another room pays tribute to General Humbert, born in Saint-Nabord and famous for his victory at the Battle of Castlebar during the Franco-Irish Expedition. Free admission. Open house on Tuesdays in July and August (information at the Tourist Office) and visits by appointment outside these dates.

A rocky mass of about 50 metres long and 10 metres high forming a terrace from which the view encompasses the Moselle valley. Numerous recent graffiti documents document the use of the site. But no man-made cups and basins are visible. The rocks of the Thin must therefore not have served as a place of worship for the ancient peoples as is the case for Tête des Cuveaux located opposite.
