Take a stroll along this trail of history, nature and art. Our explanatory panels will reveal the secrets of Cherval's main monuments, its historic sites such as the Demarcation Line, and its exceptional flora and fauna. You'll also learn about our efforts to preserve this unique environment. Along the way, don't miss the "Boîtes-Trésors" created by Michel Ducorps, dedicated to literature, science and the 5 senses. These little marvels are full of exciting surprises every time you open them.

Located on the borders of the Dordogne and Charente departments, the Argentine limestone plateau is one of the major natural sites of the Périgord Limousin Regional Nature Park. Various elements enrich the route with historical and cultural interest: - the Romanesque church, which keeps the memory of its transformations since the 11th century; - the singular landscape linked to the geology and to the Cretaceous period when, at the location of the Mareuil country, a vast lagoon protected by a coral reef extended; - the quarries which form a network of 50 ha of galleries, where the inhabitants worked from a very young age; - the ruins of the castle reminding the legend of the beautiful Argentine. Near Mareuil, there is an educational truffle farm to understand how the "black gold of the Périgord" grows. Accessible by footpath, it can be a pleasant and instructive outing for the whole family. The 11 kilometre walk allows you to discover the limestone soils around Mareuil which are ideal for truffle cultivation, and in a hamlet, the small shop of a truffle grower (please let us know the day before you come).

The Verteillac region offers a landscape of rolling hills, forming vast undulations. In the past, much of the area was occupied by vineyards, and some of the wines had earned a good reputation.

The Verteillacois, with its very bucolic appearance, is one of the last areas in Aquitaine where all the steppe bird species that found refuge in the agricultural plains, environments that have replaced their original habitat, can be found. Little bustard, screech bustard, crested harrier... are the jewels of this site.

Castle of the 17th century, registered in the inventory of Historic Monuments... Taking up the H-shaped plan, characteristic of the French style, the castle of Clauzuroux consists of a multi-storey dwelling stretching between two large pavilions with three levels. One can admire the tiled roofs, à la Mansart, decorated with dormer windows, an 18th century portal with a curved pediment above a low arch, an architectural well, terraces and gardens leading to a bridge over the Pude. The castle estate is made up of several buildings that bear witness to the castle's utilitarian and pleasure vocations: the outbuildings, the mill on the Pude forebay, which has retained its mechanism, a steward's house and a barn in its extension, and a circular dovecote with a conical roof. It is one of the finest examples of an 18th century Perigordian manor house.

Romanesque style church built in the 12th century. Important transformations were made during the 15th century. Square based bell tower decorated with blind arcades, one of the most beautiful bell towers in the Périgord. Listed as a historical monument since 1912.

The troglodytic dwellings of Saint-Pardoux-de-Mareuil belong to the category of cliff bottom dwellings, which are usually natural caves used by men from the Early Middle Ages. Evidence leads to believe that a Christian religious community occupied these shelters in the first centuries of the Common Era. All the characteristics of troglodytic settlements are found at Saint-Pardoux: grain silos, water tanks, recesses, shelves, troughs… The sarcophagi found outside the site lead to suppose the existence of a necropolis on the hill.

The limestone plateau of Argentine, listed as a “Natura 2000” site, is part of the Périgord-Limousin Regional Natural Park natural sites network. Our duo trained in restaurants from Tokyo to London, Paris to Marbella. The combination of their talents makes this atypical restaurant a must.

Séverine and Holger have left the Lyon region to settle in the beautiful village of Coutures. Working only with fresh products with a menu of the day that changes every day, a more elaborate menu in the evening (in spring and summer) and a slate on Sunday lunch.
