This nature trail in the heart of the Monts de Blond, in Limousin, near Limoges, is an invitation to walk in the valley of the Glayeule and its remarkable biodiversity. The hike offers many viewpoints on the Monts de Blond and invites the hiker to cross the forest of Vécau. To see on the path the village of Chamborêt and the church Saint-Antoine, of the end of the XIXth century.

13 km from Limoges and 800 m from Nieul, "Soleil Levant" is set in a family home built in 1948 of Limousin stone, renovated in 2019 and decorated with exotic objects by the owner, who has spent much of her working life abroad. She lives on the opposite side of the gîte, with independent entrances and outdoor areas. The Château de Nieul, its park, pond and hiking trails are 600 m away. The gîte is 400m from the train station (TER Limoges-Poitiers line) and 10km from the airport.

The gîte des Bonnes Fontaines is located in the Monts de Blond near a sheep farm. It opens at the back on an enclosed land of 300 m². A small fishing pond of 5000 m2 is at your disposal on the property (no kill fishing). The hiking trails of the Monts de Blond lead to the discovery of rare forests, secular granite stones and pure water.

Have you heard of the Musée archéologique Lémovice Guy Lintz in St Gence, 15 minutes from Limoges? Ten years of excavations have provided important information about the Gallic village of Saint-Gence . However, they have only covered a small part of the site, i.e. around one thirtieth of its estimated surface area of some 15 hectares. Saint-Gence is considered to have been an important center of Lemovician settlement since the 3rd century BC. So why not visit the museum and dream that Saint-Gence may well have been a village of Gallic diehards! You can also take part in the Terra Aventura "Tous en Celtes" treasure hunt for the "Ziclou" badge. Sitting at the picnic area on the banks of the La Glane stream near the Boisse bridge, you've found the ideal spot to spend a pleasant moment in the countryside!

The picnic area with 2 tables is located close to the château. Just cross the road and you'll find yourself in a superb park with a pond and a remarkable California cedar known as the Wolf Tree!

By the 11th century, the château was a medieval fortress. It has had a succession of owners, including Montrocher, de Stuer... The library features a Renaissance-style fireplace carved with a Salamander. In 1837, Durand de la Saigne du Boucheron restored the building, and in 1877, art enthusiast Armand Nivet undertook transformations, hence his initials in the main hall (fireplace and beams) and courtroom (ceiling). Inside, 13th-, 16th- and 17th-century stained glass of Germanic, Flemish and Swiss origin illuminates the windows. Owned by the commune since 1936, the building and its surroundings have been a listed site since 1946. These public spaces with their contrasting atmospheres (valleys, waterfalls, pond, park) form a picturesque landscape in the village. Visits by appointment with the Nieul et Alentours association.

Unique in Europe, the Veyrac dovecote bridge was built over the Glanet in the 17th century, as part of a former château. Comprising five arches, it is built on two levels. The first level provided access to the left bank, where the château?s orchard was located. The second level was the dovecote, entered through a trapdoor.

Le rucher An'imé is a beekeeping and educational farm opened in 2019. Farm store: Honey, hive products (candies, candles...)

It's part of a vast area known as the ?vallée de la Glayeule? which stretches around the Glayeule river and spans several communes. The area is classified as a ZNIEFF (Zone Naturelle d?Intérêt Ecologique Faunistique et Floristique), a national inventory of areas of outstanding biological interest. The marsh is interesting in that it is made up of different wetlands, mainly a large eutrophic marsh (rich in nutrients supplied by the river) at low altitude. There are meadows with Molinie (a grass), megaphorbia (with luxuriant tall grasses), bare areas with carnivorous plants, wooded areas (willows) and others.

Dare to discover a meal of yesteryear, you will travel through history like never before. In a medieval setting, decoration and atmosphere, you will discover a service in period dress.
