Space of rock engravings

If you are interested in prehistory, head to Aussois to visit the new cultural mediation space on the theme of rock engravings at Fort Victor-Emmanuel. On the program: engravings, playful discoveries, immersion space (sound and light) A shop in the reception room of the rock engravings area offers items for sale in partnership with Aussois merchants and craftsmen. Reproductions of flat engravings, fun discoveries with boxes to open to dive into the Neolithic era, immersive space: transport yourself to the Stone Age with sound and images that bring the engravings of the Lozes Archaeological Park to life . Multiple engravings were made on the Lozes site in Aussois by picketing and chiselling the rock, sometimes with hollow effects, most of the time, it seems, with a stone tool. Records, and especially casts to ensure immediate protection of this heritage have been made and stored near Chambéry. We find there, for example, warriors armed with spears or swords, animals already present before the creation of the Parc de la Vanoise. But what is the relationship with Fort Victor-Emmanuel? In reality, through the heritage service of the Department of Savoie, it was imagined to bring the casts made on site closer to their place of design and production. To carry out such a project, it was necessary to rely on the European strategy of PITEM Pa. This "heritage, culture, economy" which responds to the need to preserve and enhance an exceptional cultural heritage. What more remarkable place than Fort Victor-Emmanuel for such a project? The Command building located on the Place d'armes appeared to be the appropriate place for the concrete implementation of such a project. A heritage architecture firm, specializing in this field, was retained in the person of Maria CAMPOS (SILT) in association with a scenography firm (Atelier des Fantasques). As part of the creation of this new space for rock engravings intended for a family audience, the three rooms of the Command building are intended to present the evolution of the Aussois plateau and highlight the rock engravings. of the Haute Maurienne, particularly the Parc des Lozes. After a reception area and a shop, free admission gives access to informative and fun themed rooms that explain the research carried out and the new technologies implemented. Boxes to open for children, presentation films make this route attractive, with flat reproductions of rocks and engravings. The highlight of the Upper Battery represents the high point of the visit to this new cultural facility with an immersive sound and light space dedicated to rock engravings.
