Don't be in a hurry to leave Oloron, the old and beautiful capital of the Haut-Béarn. But when you finally do, from the top of Sainte-Croix, you will face the indentation that the Gave d'Aspe has dug in the Pyrenean wall. It is precisely the one that the path you are going to take follows. Before, it will have wandered in the countryside. Then suddenly you enter a deep gorge, as intimate as you wish and hardly interrupted at the level of Sarrance, high place of Christianity as much as of the old Pyrenean religion... It opens, just as suddenly, in the immense breath that is in these reliefs the plain of Bedous.

Located in Saint-Pée-d?en-Bas, to the west of Oloron-Sainte-Marie, this family-friendly walk offers a fun, refreshing and well-documented trail suitable for all ages. Initially, it follows the course of the Vert, which flows into the Gave d'Oloron at Moumour.

This very beautiful sporting loop starting from Oloron-Saint-Marie gradually rises in altitude. It gently immerses itself in the Aspe valley, and joins the Barétous by small singular mountain roads. Then it's the big climb to the Col de la Pierre Saint-Martin which offers a breathtaking panorama!

Charming loop at the foot of the valleys of Aspe and Ossau. The profile is varied and the climbs remain very accessible. From plains to hillsides, from forests to agricultural plots, it is an ideal loop to discover the piedmont and its many riches, both human and natural.

A sublime VAE itinerary that follows the slopes of the mythical passes of the Pyrenees (La Pierre-Saint-Martin, Marie-Blanque, Aubisque, Soulor) and that crisscrosses the Pyrenean foothills to discover the treasures of the valleys of Barétous, Aspe, Ossau, Pays de Nay and Haut-Béarn: this is the program of this 230 km loop that circles the Béarn. You will be able to realize this circuit in stages, which you will adapt the length according to your capacities and your desires. It is also possible to split the itinerary into two parts to make an Eastern or a Western circuit, of about 150 km each, via the other thematic itineraries proposed in Bearn.

The loop of the Béarn hillsides by VAE is an ideal circuit to discover the Pyrenean foothills from Oloron, on a hilly and therefore relatively physical circuit. From plains to hillsides, from forests to agricultural plots, it will allow you to discover many human and natural treasures: the remarkable built heritage of Oloron Sainte-Marie, at the crossroads of the Aspe and Ossau valleys, the Bager wood and the Payssas arboretum, or the magnificent Jurançon vineyards which sunbathe against the backdrop of mountainous landscapes. Take advantage of this opportunity to have a wine tasting break in one of the domains along the way..

An easy route on the right bank of the Gave of Oloron, very smooth in the middle of a floodplain very suitable for agriculture. The architectural heritage of the intersecting towns and villages is interesting, as they are some manors and castles near the route (all private): the castle of Peyré in These, the castle of Verlée in Ledeuix, the castle of Pédelaborde in Poey. Looking at the horizon, the mountains unfold peaks and peaks, this panorama of the Pyrenees will follow you all this route. This circuit hides only a real climb of a few minutes, the access to the Poey-d'Oloron hill. Otherwise, it is quite flat, with some false plains in the middle of the fields. The electric assistance will help you return if the shape is not yet at full blast in the early days of spring, or if a small mischievous wind seeks to slow your progress.

One of the appeals of this loop is that you start in the town then within minutes you can soak up the peace of the countryside. Plus there's the historical built heritage in the villages, mountain views as far as the Hautes-Pyrénées and you've got it all!

The last stage in Bearn goes down the valley of the Gave d'Oloron, sliding from one village to another on the agricultural plateaux. From the castle of Aren, in the Viscounty of Béarn, the jackfruit route now turns towards the neighbouring Basque Country. Travelling through deep, calm forests, it will first stop at the Hôpital-Saint-Blaise, a place of welcome historically dedicated to pilgrims on the Piedmont Route.

Built on a former industrial wasteland at the confluence of the Gaves d'Aspe and Gaves d'Ossau, the Médiathèque intercommunale du Haut-Béarn is part of a wider strategy to regenerate the urban fabric and promote cultural activities in the Béarn Pyrenees. In Oloron Sainte-Marie, around 1883, the arrival of the railroad led to the creation of a neighborhood around the station, including a public garden. The Church of the Holy Cross bears witness to the Crusades and the viscountal city that Oloron was. Built at the end of the 11th century, in the heart of the "bourg de l'enclos", it is one of the city's must-see monuments It has a remarkable ribbed eight-pointed star-shaped dome of Mozarabic inspiration and an altarpiece in the Spanish Baroque style.

Southwest of Pau and 50 km from Spain, Oloron Sainte-Marie is a town in Haut-Béarn at the foot of the Pyrenees.
