Circuit des Etangs from the Etang Noir (Municipality of Ramonchamp). Duration: 2h. Difficulty: easy (family walk with children). Lenght: 5 kilometers. Elevation: +54 meters. Signposting: blue ring on a round-trip. Places of interest: viewpoint of the Etang Noir, wild landscapes of the Noirs Etangs and the Etang de la Peau, wooden footbridge and peat bog of the Etang de la Chaussée Pingant. Departure: Etang Noir car park. Access: From Le Thillot, follow the road towards Lure and Servance. At the top of the Col des Croix, turn right onto the D57 for 4 kilometers. Description of the route: From the car park, take the path on the left which runs along the pond and follow the direction "Sentier des Etangs" blue ring markings. After 50 meters, pass over a belvedere protected by wooden barriers. Continue on this path, you walk along the Etang Noir before crossing the road. When you get to the road, turn left, continuing for 30 meters, then take the path to the right in the forest, following the blue ring markings. Cross the blue bridge and continue on this path for about 300 meters. Once again on the road, cross it and take the path opposite the blue ring markings. Continue for 50 meters then turn right, still following the same blue ring markings. You pass at a place called "Les Noirs Etangs" whose name is indicated on a sign at the edge of the footpath. At the crossroads, still follow the direction "Sentier des Etangs" blue ring markings. Walk along the dry pond then at the end of the path, take the path opposite the blue ring markings. Do not turn right onto the asphalt road. Pass by a private pond and house on the left. The land is fenced. Arrived at the end of this private pond, you come out on a pond called "Etang de la Chaussée Pingant". Take the blue ring signposted path to the right. Cross the bridge which leads to a pretty chalet with picnic table open all year round. Possibility of fishing on site (fishing license compulsory). Head to the right behind the chalet, follow the sign "Sentier des Etangs" signposted blue ring and walk along the bog. Continue the walk following the direction "direction advised". Find another pond on your right with a chalet. Walk along it following the blue ring markings. When you arrive at a new pond (large house) called "Etang de la Peau", turn right then walk along this pond via the path to join a forest path before turning right, follow the blue ring markings and head to the Étang de la Chaussée Pingant (cottage, bridge) that you saw on the way there. All you have to do is retrace your steps along the charming path you took on the way there to finish the walk and return to the starting point.

Signposted circuit departing from the Hautes Mynes Museum. Circuit n ° 14 "The Virgin of Thillot". Difficulty level: blue. Distance: 6 km. Elevation: 180 meters. Signposted circuit departing from the Hautes Mynes Museum. Circuit n ° 15 "Col des Croix". Difficulty level: blue. Distance: 12 km. Elevation: 370 meters. Circuit which allows you to discover the Plateau des 1000 Etangs, the Col des Croix and the old tunnel under the Col des Croix. The GPX track of the route can be downloaded below.

Signposted circuit departing from the Hautes Mynes Museum. Circuit n ° 16 "Les Hautes Mynes". Difficulty level: red. Distance: 17 km. Elevation: 535 meters. Circuit which allows you to discover the Plateau des 1000 Etangs and the Thillot mining site along a route with lovely views of the region. The GPX track of the route can be downloaded below.

Circuit de la Vierge (Municipality of Le Thillot). Duration: approximately 1h30. Difficulty: easy (family walk with children). Lenght: 4 kilometers. Elevation : +84 meters. Signposting: yellow triangle, mountain bike trail n ° 14, unmarked parts. Places of interest: the Hautes-Mynes Museum, the view over the valley from the Virgin of the Liberation. Departure: parking lot at the Omnisport hall (Maurice Schoenacker), next to the Hautes-Mynes Museum. Access: from the center of Le Thillot, follow direction Lure. The Hautes-Mynes Museum is 500 meters further on on the right. Description of the route: From the car park, go behind the Hautes Mynes Tourist Office and Museum building to find the Voie Verte. Continue on the Voie Verte alongside the factory that you will see on your left with its large fireplace. When you reach the 1st barrier of the Voie Verte, take the small road to the left and continue for about 300 meters where you will pass between the old workers' towns. At the end of the road, pass the red chicane and take the small path that leads to a small bridge that spans the Vacceux stream. Children may have the chance to observe small fish ... Continue on this path which climbs up to a second red chicane. Continue straight for 200 meters. On your right, you will see a house and join the asphalt road. Go to the left and continue on this road. After 30 meters, take the dirt road on the right and follow the yellow triangle markings indicating "Le Pré Martin / Etang de la Peau". You can take a short break on the bench and discover the village of Le Thillot in front of you. Follow this path for approximately 800 meters. At the intersection, turn right and follow the direction "Point de vue de la Vierge". When you arrive at the Virgin, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of Le Thillot with its church overlooking the town, of the village of Ramonchamp on your left or of the Ménil valley opposite. Retrace your steps for about 200 meters. At the first intersection, at the end of the descent, take the small grassy path that goes down to the right. Continue on this path at the edge of the forest which will bring you at a farm at the end of the road. When you get to the tarmac road, go down for about 600 meters then take the first right. Follow the mountain bike markings n° 14. You come to a house which is located in a dead end with a henhouse on your right. Turn left and follow the mountain bike markings n° 14 on the grassy path. Take the tarmac road to the right as far as the crossroads to join the Voie Verte. Take the Voie Verte to the right and continue straight for about 200 meters to finish the walk and find the starting point.

3.2 km loop circuit. Duration: 1h40. Departure: Ramonchamp town hall. A route which allows you to discover the pretty village of Ramonchamp and the banks of the Moselle. 1. From the town hall square, take the road on the right between the Post Office and the church. 2. You then walk along the cemetery. Follow the road to the right between the war memorial and the cemetery. 3. Continue straight ahead until the Voie Verte to take it on the left. Go straight. 4. 200 meters further, you may see chickens on the left. 5. You then cross a tarmac road which you must follow on your left. Immediately take the 2nd street on the right “Rang du Moulin”. 6. Continue on the right at the bottom of the descent. You pass along workers' towns which are on your right. 7. You pass over a canal where you will undoubtedly be able to admire small ducks splashing in the water. On the right, you will see a henhouse populated with geese. 8. 50 meters further on, on the right, you will see the old “Tissages de l’Est” factory and its clearly visible chimney. It now houses commercial units. 9. The road bends slightly to the left then leads to a blue bridge which spans the Moselle. Go straight after the bridge. 10. You leave “rue du Vieux Moulin” just before Route Nationale 66 to turn on your left into “rue des Breuches”. This pleasant street is lined with many flower-filled houses on sunny days. 11. Always follow the main road. You will see a small bench on the right if you want to rest. Do not take the dead end on the right. 12. The road turns left at the trash bins. You can then see the church tower in the background. Go straight without turning left. 13. At the STOP, go down left towards the center of the village. You will see on your left a bus shelter then a blue bridge. Go straight ahead, crossing the road “rue du Clos Martin”. 14. You pass next to the old campsite and 300 meters further, turn left “rue des Champs de l’Epine” and follow the sign “pedestrian footbridge”. 15. Go straight towards the Moselle (dead end). The path runs along the river where you can see ducks. Cross the footbridge then turn left (before crossing the footbridge, a picnic table is on your left). 16. You arrive at the large playground called “les Berges de la Moselle” which offers games for all ages (weight training area for adults, pétanque court, children's playground and city park). Very pleasant site at the water's edge which provides picnic tables in a bucolic setting. To reach the town hall, all you have to do is go straight on the road towards the church.

Signposted circuit departing from Ramonchamp town hall. Circuit n ° 3 "Chapelle de Ramonchamp". Difficulty level: green. Distance: 6.5 km. Elevation: 115 meters. Circuit which allows you to discover the village of Ramonchamp as well as the pretty chapel on the hillside from which you can enjoy an extensive panorama over the valley. Circuit signposted from the town hall. Circuit n ° 2 "Etang Noir". Difficulty level: red. Distance: 15.5 km. Elevation: 570 meters. Circuit which allows to discover beautiful views from Grammont, the belvedere of the Black Pond and the surroundings of the Chalet de l'Alouette. The GPX track of the route can be downloaded below.

Signposted circuit departing from Ramonchamp town hall. Circuit n ° 1 "Col de Morbieux". Difficulty level: red. Distance: 16 km. Elevation: 550 meters. Circuit which allows you to discover beautiful panoramas on Ramonchamp from Roche Jolie, the Chalet de Salmon and Bénapré as well as beautiful forests near the Col de Morbieux with chalets to rest. Circuit de la Roche Jolie (Municipality of Ramonchamp). Duration: 2h30. Difficulty: easy (family walk with children). Lenght: 5.4 kilometers. Elevation: +110 meters. Signposting: most of the route is not signposted, a portion of mountain bike trail n ° 1 and a portion of red ring signposting. Places of interest: 2 play areas for children, one in the forest and the other by the river; point of view over the village from the heights. Departure: Parking lot at the church of Ramonchamp. Access: From Le Thillot, follow the N66 towards Epinal. The next village crossed is called Ramonchamp. Take the road on the left at the pharmacy to reach the center of the village and the church. Description of the route: From the car park, turn right to go down the "rue de l'Etat" and join the "Grande Rue". Pass between the church on your right and the town hall on the left. Continue for about 40 meters to reach the blue bridge where the Moselle passes. Take the 1st road on the right after the bridge "rue des Brasseries" for 200 meters. At the 1st crossroads, continue on the same road (do not follow "rue des Breuches"). Continue on the same road at the 2nd intersection then take the left road at the sign "forbidden" to join the N66. Pass next to the "Auto Plaisir" garage. Take the pedestrian crossing to cross the N66. Take the road opposite direction "Le Ménil". Continue on this road for 100 meters then turn left at the 2nd crossroads "rue du Murgis" mountain bike trail n ° 1. You pass in front of the GAEC des Gourmets farm. At number 6 of the street, take the left road which goes up. Continue for 200 meters then take the forest path on the left, marked with mountain bike trail n ° 1. Continue uphill for about 600 meters. Arrived at the ULM platform, nice view. Walk along the ULM platform to join the road. When you get to the road, follow it to the left along the same microlight take-off area, this time on the other side, for 40 meters. At the crossroads, continue on the left road that goes down. Passage near a pretty private pond on your left. At the crow's feet, take the road straight ahead (not the "rue des Fontaines") and continue for 300 meters. At the crossroads, go straight for 200 meters and you will arrive at the "La Roche Jolie" holiday center (large white building on your left). Continue on this road for 250 meters. After the big left turn, continue for 20 meters and turn on the right path at the sign "prohibition for motorcycles ..." just before the viewpoint and its bench. Orientation table. Follow this path, it leads to an arboretum then to the Maix playground. At the end of the path, you come to a parking lot. Take the street that goes down to the left. Continue straight for 500 meters to join the N66 (sawmill on your left). Go right for 50 meters to reach the pedestrian crossing "rue de la Maix". Cross it, turn left to join the intersection then the right road direction "pedestrian bridge". Go straight for 200 meters until you reach the "dead end" sign, pass the chicane and follow the path along the Moselle. Cross the footbridge that leads you to the Berges de la Moselle playground. Go straight through the playground then the car park behind the barrier. The gymnasium is on the right. Continue on this road towards the church. At the "give way", you have to take the pedestrian crossing to cross the road and then reach the starting point on your right.

DEPARTING FROM LAUSANNE, HEAD TO THE MEDIEVAL TOWN OF GRUYÈRES, HOME TO THE FAMOUS SWISS CHEESE! Departing from Lausanne, head to the medieval town of Gruyères, home to the famous Swiss cheese!  Leave Lausanne by bus and climb up into the alpine pastures to reach Gruyères.  After a tour around the town, your guide will take you to a Swiss chocolate factory to show you how famous Swiss chocolate is made.  Then head to an old alpine cheese factory. Enjoy a Swiss cheese tasting and learn more about the national dish: fondue.  Learn to make your own Swiss fondue and try the traditional dish.  After your meal, relax and climb on board the Golden Express, a panoramic train which crosses the alpine pastures and the heights of Lake Geneva. Enjoy incredible views of the lake and the Alps. When you get off the train, get back on your bus and head to Lavaux and its terraced vineyards. The Virgin of Thillot, also called Notre-Dame de la Liberation, is a statue erected by the parish to commemorate the liberation of the town on November 26, 1944. The Thillot paid a heavy price during the Second World War: 50% of the city was destroyed during the bombings of June 1940 and September 1944. The virgin, was blessed on April 4 1948, is located on a small hill (altitude: 585 meters) that offers a magnificent panorama view on the valley. Access only on foot from a path served by rue du Tacot: follow the yellow triangle markings in the direction of the Etang de la Peau and the board indicating "point de vue de la vierge".

This chapel dedicated to Our Lady of the Good Council was erected in 1957 by the children of Ramonchamp in recognition and in memory of the comrades victims of the war. It can be easily reached from the center of the village either by car or on foot by taking the marked blue disc trail. It is eqquiped with benches that invite you to take a break.

Walk in the footsteps of the miners of the Dukes of Lorraine and discover an impressive heritage carved into the granite between 1560 and 1761. In the Rouge-Montagne mine, equipped with a helmet and a headlamp, you can reach the very heart of the underground network. You spend one hour under the earth ! As well as the mine, you can also visit an exhibition with : featuring equipment, tools, a model and a video. Open all year round. Helmet and light are provided – Wear good shoes. Mother church f all the Upper Moselle valley, the Saint-Rémy and Saint-Blaise church in Ramonchamp was built in 1684. It was endowed with an organ in 1732 thanks to the donation of Father Georges d'Ogeron, parish priest of Ramonchamp from 1735 to 1785. The church contains a 1950 painting by the painter Lecomte which commemorates the 1st World War. This work represents wounded and dying soldiers as well as an angel.

The Cross of Couard was erected in 1947 to celebrate the return home of prisoners and deportees from the Second World War. It is located on the Montagne de Couard (737 meters) which overlooks the village of Fresse-sur-Moselle and offers a beautiful view on its center. The materials that have been used for it were at the time carried on men'back by the inhabitants of the village, including the children of the schools who carried the sand uphill on steep paths. Accessible only on foot, you can reach it either from the center of the village or from the Etang du Frac by following the path marked with red ring.

The inhabitants of Le Thillot had initially built a small chapel which had become too small for the celebration of worship. From 1897, the location of the new church gave rise to a controversy that lasted several years. The first pickaxe was given only in March 1903 and the new church was finally inaugurated in October 1904. A clock with 3 dials was set up in May 1909 by Mister Farini. The stained glass windows were made between 1947 and 1949 by the Loire workshops.

The summit of Chaillon, at an altitude of 634 meters, is a calm and peaceful place. This little hill is easily accessible from the church of Le Thillot and offers sumptuous panoramas on the valley. The main one is embellished with an orientation table which allows you to recognize the surrounding tops. Nearby are benches, picnic areas and even a charming little pond nestled in a corner of greenery.

Ten minutes' walk from the centre of Fresse-sur-Moselle (car park at the building of the municipal workshop (ateliers municipaux)), the arboretum covers more than four hectares at an altitude between 560 and 590 metres above sea level. The access is slightly sloping on a south-facing hillside overlooking the village and the Moselle valley. Since its creation in 1992, the arboretum has been expanded with 200 native tree species, but also Mediterranean, African, Asian and American species. The quality of the soil and the good location have favoured the adaptation of those species. Information boards are next to the trees so that visitors can learn more about them. The area belongs to the municipal forest. The French forestry authority ONF (Office Nationale des Forêts) is responsible for its maintenance. The arboretum is crossed by a two-kilometre fitness trail, which is a delight for sports enthusiasts and walkers.

The history of the "Saint-Brice" church in Fresse-sur-Moselle : In the 10th century : The inhabitants of Fresse-sur-Moselle belonged to the parish of Ramonchamp, Christianity and deanery of Remiremont, diocese of Toul. When the commune of Fresse-sur-Moselle had its first church, it received a contribution from the mother church of Ramonchamp for its building and layout. This church was only an emergency chapel and not a temple of worship. December 22nd 1640: Permission to celebrate devotional masses during the week. In 1665: Faculty to administer baptisms there. 1737: the parish became independent. 1741: Building of a presbytery, its first vicar was Messire COUSERAT. June 05, 1803: First parish priest, Father BONNABE. The 04th December 1856: Demolition work on the old church which was falling into ruins and the construction of the present church.
