Sometimes in the heart of the forest, sometimes on pretty country paths, this walk is full of charm in any season.

The charming village of Chassepierre is set in a narrow valley facing a loop of the Semois. A real paradise for painters who appreciate its architecture, calmness and landscapes. It is included on the list of “most beautiful villages in Wallonia”. Chassepierre is also very well known for its International Street Arts Festival held every summer on the penultimate weekend of August. Want more? This 49km walk gives you the chance to explore some exceptional sites in the Ardennes such as the Roche à l’Appel, the Roches du Moulin, the medieval ruins of Herbeumont castle, Les Épioux and the large Chiny forest. Further south, in Gaume, you will be impressed by the remarkable Florenville viewpoint, the village of Chassepierre, a real paradise for painters, and the traditional Gaume houses in Laiche and Fontenoille.

Cross over Pont Charreau with its lion gargoyles to reach the charming village of Termes. Then you will find a lovely view over the Semois in Breuvanne before heading to the Gros Cron in Lahage. On the way you will see the captivating lime tree in Gérouville, the beautiful Orval Abbey and the Gallo-Roman site of Chameleux.

In the summer months you can enjoy the scents of the forest and discover its flora and fauna. Banel connects the surroundings of the French Ardennes with its rich historical past on one side and modern infrastructure with many activities on the other. The estate covers 13 ha of land, the majority of which is wooded. Springs, streams and ponds will help refresh you on hot summer days. Located at the edge of the town forest, the Matton and Clemency arboretum (known as "3 Fleurs") welcomes you since 1996. It was the desire of the village to transform a former garbage dump into a one hectare park. A pond, a bridge, a pergola, a kiosk, a water wheel were all made by volunteer residents. With about 150 species, the park won the first “Prix National de l’Arbre” in 2003.

The Restaurant du Banel, located in the eponymous camping site, is a trendy, friendly place with a large games area.
