Larressore stretches along the valleys of the Nive and Latsa rivers, over areas of meadows, crops, woods and pastures. This predominance of agricultural and pastoral activities is probably the origin of the village's name: Larre soro, meaning moorland and meadows in Basque. After 1510, it acquired its own name, separating from the commune of Halsou. Since protohistory, it has been a natural crossroads, becoming a passageway on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela as early as the 10th century, as evidenced by the Pelerenia house. The church of Saint-Sébastien has been listed since the Middle Ages. It is remarkable for its XV and XVIII century altarpieces, its XV century Christ on the cross, and its XVII century monumental painting representing the 4 evangelists. Also worth seeing are the numerous discoidal steles visible in the cemetery next to the church, and the benedictional house, in Basque seroraenea or "house of the benediction" nearby. The church is registered as a Historic Monument.

A stopover on the road to Santiago de Compostela, this domestic chapel is a place of pilgrimage with a very ancient origin, with a particular devotion to the fountain located below the chapel. The house of the Sorhoeta family and its chapel fell under the dependence of the Premonstratensians who set up a relay for pilgrims to Compostela. The building has a stocky plan, with a single, almost square nave, which is extended after a slight narrowing of the side walls by a semi-circular apse. It is not vaulted. The apse is buttressed by three buttresses, probably rebuilt in the 18th century. To the west, the façade is extended by a small bell tower-wall. The entrance gate opens under a pointed arch with large wedges and has a comma closure system. A few tombstones remain between the old terracotta tiles.

C’est en 1506 que le seigneur Martin d’Uhalde, propriétaire de la maison noble Uhalde Handi, fait construire une chapelle à Halsou, à la mémoire de sa fille, noyée dans la Nive alors qu’elle se rendait à Larressore pour assister à la messe. La chapelle, rebaptisée église Notre-Dame, est érigée en paroisse en 1512.L’église Notre-Dame possède un clocher-pignon. Cet élément est un haut mur adossé à l’édifice et percé d’arcades dans lesquelles sont placées les cloches. Le clocher de Halsou ne possède qu’une arcade dotée d’une cloche unique. Le porche d’entrée est postérieur à l’église. Une inscription semble indiquer qu’il a été ajouté à la façade en 1770. Il abrite un Christ en croix datant du XVIIe siècle. La nef est surplombée par deux étages de galeries en bois sculpté. On remarque enfin un retable Louis XIV et une pietà du XVIe siècle.

At the beginning of the war 1914 - 1918, the seminary of Larressore becomes military auxiliary hospital n°216 and will be treated there the soldiers wounded on the front of the great war. 254 of them will die in Larressore and 131 will be buried on a ground yielded by the commune. A military square of 61 graves was created for those who died between 10 October 1914 and 10 October 1919. There are soldiers of different nationalities. Access to the cemetery is through a small gate that is permanently open.

Built from 1733, the chapel of the Seminary of Larressore was enlarged and embellished in a pure baroque style during the first half of the 19th century. Listed as a Historic Monument, its restoration was completed in 2010. The chapel reflects the important influence that the seminary had at that time. Visit the crypt and military cemetery possible.

The parish church of Larressore is dedicated to Saint Martin and dates from the end of the 19th century. First mentioned in the 13th century when Larressore was an important stop on the road to Santiago de Compostela, the church of St. Martin was rebuilt several times. The current building was built in 1893 and replaces an old building dating from the 17th century. Restored and refurbished between 1967 and 1970, the church has two floors of wooden galleries reserved for men during masses in the Basque tradition. Its interior also houses discoid and tabular stelae and a remarkable statue of Pietà dating from the 16th century. The Virgin of Mercy in the church of Saint-Martin is classified as a Historic Monument.
