The vineyard is planted on clay, limestone and flint, and reveals its terroir. The vineyards of Conne-de-Labarde are planted on clay, limestone and flint, and the modern style of architecture and its integration into the landscape are noteworthy. The grape harvesting docks, such as the one you see on this route, were used to hoist the empty vats and place them filled with grapes in the carts for the cooperatives.

Undulating landscapes with the presence of numerous springs and a stream called the Conne. Shortly after passing the "Borie Basse" fountain-washhouse, you will see the Chartreuse du Bignac overlooking the Conne valley, bordered by poplar groves. It is located in the commune of St Nexans. The presence of water mills which were used to grind grain confirms the importance of agriculture in the Issigeacois. Built on the stream of the Conne, the "Moulin de Lestrade" and that of the "Sègue" are old watermills that have been converted into houses. There is a third one called "Moulin de Rode". The origin of one of these mills would go back to the 12th century. The industrial carpentry after the war put an end to the activity of these mills.

The walker will discover the Périgourdine style architecture as well as beautiful agricultural landscapes, punctuated by wooded areas. Halfway along the route, you will come across the "Phénix" fountain/watering hole before reaching this hamlet of character where you will find a recent dovecote and a grape harvesting dock also known as a loading crane. A little further on is an authentic dovecote.

Throughout the walk, agriculture has shaped the landscape with its many orchards, vineyards and cereals, punctuated by wooded areas with dry stone walls. An old tobacco drying shed at the beginning of the route reminds us of a culture that was once very present. Winegrowers' huts bear witness to the practices of the past, as do the loading cranes used during the grape harvest, which were used to transport the harvest to the presses. The craft industry is represented by the last shoeing machine still visible on the paths of the Issigeacois: used until 1950, it gradually lost its usefulness. On the Près Noirs site, one can see a bird of heritage interest: the Orpheus Warbler. At the end of the loop, in the hamlet of "Bernis", the stone houses and old tobacco drying sheds are still well preserved.

After passing through Bergerac and the Monbazillac option, head west to reach the Bergerac wine region, with its 8 appellations, via the cycle route. Family vineyard for 7 generations, implanted on old marl quarries and the name of the estate was taken from it. It is also an old Prehistorian tools production site. You can discover our collection of biface tools. You can also discover old tools and accessories used for the wine. A rich wine past in a unique terroir permits us to produce authentic wines. We propose dry white wines, sweet and soft, rosé, and great red wines which can be aged of 20 for the millesimes. The ageing of our wines is very meticulous, it can be made in vats and in oak barrels, as well as for the fermentation. Thanks to the historical feedback of our vineyard, we select parcels of lands, and the best ones have pretty names like “La Côte Fleurie” or “l’Eglantier” (floral coast and dog rose)

The Mayet family was in the XVIth century a family of cathedral builders in the center of France. They settled in South-West in 1852 on agricultural lands where they do polyculture. In 1971, the first bottles of the Domaine du Bois de Pourquié were made and now the family exploitation is producing only wine, on a 30-ha surface.

In 1984, Christian ROCHE inherited from a part of the family property, and in 1989 he created his wine cellar in order to become an independent winemaker. In this way, he realized he had to come back to the basics, that is to say the land and the plant. The real question is: what are the needs of the plant to produce great grapes to create the best wine possible? For a few years now, the respect of the environment, deep soil working, grape varieties implantation, plantation densities and the special selections have improved the quality of the wine. And since 2012, they are working in organic agriculture.
