After crossing the Gave, the quiet departmental road runs through the Aspe Valley in a truly bucolic setting. There's no difficulty on the horizon except for a few mounds to overcome with the electric assistance and relaxation. However, Col de Marie-Blanque on its side of the Aspe Valley will surprise you and, after a bend, you will quickly understand why the Tour de France has passed through here thirteen times. Beautiful pages of this legendary event have been written here, beginning with Thévenet in 1978 who had to get down the bike and Hinault, a young beginner who broke his teeth there. The electric assistance gets quite helpful in getting the most out of this short but intense journey. This challenge is more technological than physical, you need to make your legs work by correctly managing the available watts to reach the 1035 m of this highly coveted pass without incident

The highlight of this loop may be the ascent to Castet with its incredible belvedere but the next section is just as magical. It glides over the Pre-Pyrenean shaded hillsides in a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.

A pass with an emblematic name (a large bird of prey that you might be lucky enough to see) and with a profile just as emblematic: a warm-up on the first 2 km then the next three climb the pressure (5% to 7%) and the challenge arrives with 10 then 12%. Be careful, the higher you go, the more the slope rises to finish at 14%!

The pyrenean piedmont is teeming with wonderful hikes. This route rises on the edge of the Aspe Valley and up onto a ridge to run beneath the Mail Arrouy's sharp rows of rocks. You can see the Bilboquet, a geological point, before diving into the descent.

The tumuli are remnants of burials dating back to the Neolithic period. These rudimentary stone circles are evidence of ancient pastoral activity in these mountains. The current landscape continues to bear the marks of pastoralism.

As you climb up to Camp de César and go around the ramparts, you can just picture Obelix popping out with a few wild boars under his arms. As you explore trails and winding paths, the whisper of the Bélandre and the sweet golden oriole's birdsong is your soundtrack.

This is a loop that keeps its cards close to its chest! The first section is fairly nice and smooth but the fun really starts at the top of the woods. A long section on a narrow path that winds between the trees requires a sense of balance. Ideal for all the family!

What a ride! It covers all abilities and its level of demand is only rivalled by its variety of terrains, settings and landscapes. With its contour line like a heartbeat, there's no doubt that it will test out your muscles but it will also give you amazing biking memories!

The idea behind endurance cycling is the partially pre-formed technical descent which is performed "by pedalling". It's a done deal in Bugangue: there are 4 great trails in the undergrowth that technical cyclists love: slopes, smooth rides and great bends!

The route, located entirely in the city of Oloron Santa-Marie, begins at the edge of the Saint-Pée sports esplanade, nothing more natural for a city called "active and sports city". Then, you will arrive on the banks of the Vert, a beautiful tributary of the Gave d'Oloron, which you will discover from bridge to bridge, through the districts of Saint-Pée d'en Haut and Saint-Pée d'en Bas, where the site of Pont Noir deserves a contemplative or sports break (exercise parcours). Your bike's battery will be underused because the elevations are modest. Upon returning to the Bois de Haut, you will follow a long narrow path that is very playful, which is woven between the trees; Control your pace and fine-tune your bike's direction, front wheel control is essential.

5 minutes from Oloron Sainte-Marie, Olivier's farm specializes in raising Gascon ewes and pigs. Store and farm visit. The ewes summer in the Vallée d'Aspe, and the cheeses are made in the traditional way (still pressed by needle). They are matured on the farm using the Béarnaise method. Our black pigs are raised in the open air under our chestnut and oak groves, and fed on whey and cereals produced directly on the farm. A warm welcome and a wide choice of farm products: cured meats, Gascon pork charcuterie, ewe's milk cheese, greuil, Pyrenean suckling lamb, ready-made meals and fresh meat for your grills.

At the foot of the Pyrenees, at the confluence of the Ossau, Aspe and Barétous valleys, 5 minutes from Oloron Sainte-Marie, 60 dairy cows of all breeds enjoy the green pastures of Gurmençon. Farm visits and direct sales of farmhouse cow's milk cheeses: Gourmançon and Henri IV's Crown, and their brothers: Petit Gourmançon and pouquets, plain and with peppers. Faisselle, fromage blanc and crème fraîche complete the raw-milk range. Farm churn butter made with organic raw milk. Organic since May 2019.

Nestled in the heart of the Béarn mountains, Ferme Récébire, located in Issor, is a small mountain farm. With our 300 Basque-Béarnaise ewes and 40 goats, we make the traditional cheese of our mountains. You can come and taste it on site, or in the summer hut at La Pierre-Saint-Martin. The Bidalot Farm is open by appointment for a free 30-minute guided tour, including a visit to the workshops, animals and cheese tasting. You can carry on going up to the Trône du Roi (King's Throne) to enjoy the incredible views.

The views from the peak are incredible, you can see the Pic d'Anie with its little brother the Pic d'Arlas to the south on the right.

The descent is the same way as the ascent. Be careful in damp conditions as the stones can be slippery. Sticks are handy for keeping your balance.

This establishment welcomes you in a modern and luminous setting with sober and soothing tones.
