For a quick and panoramic discovery of the resort of Bains Les Bains, this short forestry trail, just a stone's throw from the centre and with a steep slope, allows the discovery of the Million hill overlooking the spa. It owes its name to the honey that used to be produced there.

After the hamlet of Raval, discovery of the Fontaine aux chèvres in a beautiful beech forest, then crossing the hamlet of Fontenelles, the way back goes through the beautiful forest paths to the Fouillies wood.

At the roundabout, take the path along the D164. It will be accessible on your right. Don't forget to take a moment to observe the surrounding nature with its diverse flora and fauna. Then your steps will lead you to the forest hill of Rédé. Finally the path will take you across the D164 and back in the opposite direction. You will retrace your steps via the rue de Bertramont and return to the town and the starting point.

This route leads to the Hameau de La Forêt overlooking the spa town of Bains Les Bains. Crossing the thermal park, it takes you through the Bertramont forest, along a path that runs alongside the river Bagnerot. As you enter the hamlet of La Forêt, you get to a large plateau at a 400m altitude, between pastures and orchards, with a wide panorama over the surrounding hills.

Starting point from the Tourism Office, take the pedestrian walkway passing in front of the impressive Bain de la Promenade, to reach the large Thermal Park and its water feature. After the Art Deco style Potinière building, follow the Bagnerot stream (clockwise) or go up on the left (anticlockwise) to join the bypass and reach the Bertramont forest opposite.

It passes through villages and hamlets and is almost entirely on small tarmac country roads (except for a section through fields, where it is possible to pass through the Bourguignotte playground and picnic area, with its drinking water point).

DEPARTING FROM LAUSANNE, HEAD TO THE MEDIEVAL TOWN OF GRUYÈRES, HOME TO THE FAMOUS SWISS CHEESE! Departing from Lausanne, head to the medieval town of Gruyères, home to the famous Swiss cheese!  Leave Lausanne by bus and climb up into the alpine pastures to reach Gruyères.  After a tour around the town, your guide will take you to a Swiss chocolate factory to show you how famous Swiss chocolate is made.  Then head to an old alpine cheese factory. Enjoy a Swiss cheese tasting and learn more about the national dish: fondue.  Learn to make your own Swiss fondue and try the traditional dish.  After your meal, relax and climb on board the Golden Express, a panoramic train which crosses the alpine pastures and the heights of Lake Geneva. Enjoy incredible views of the lake and the Alps. When you get off the train, get back on your bus and head to Lavaux and its terraced vineyards. The telecombi is a teleport with seats and cabins. The Télécombi du Mont Rond, coming from the Col de la Faucille, allows you to access the crests of the Haute Chaîne du Jura; it lifts you from 1323m to 1543m altitude. Once there, the hiker is only 30mn walk away to reach the Grand Mont Rond (1596m), and 2h for the Colomby de Gex (1689m). 2 blue pistes for all mountain biking are marked from the top of the télécombi. In winter, it allows snowshoe enthusiasts to reach the summits with ease and to enjoy the ridges. Please respect the regulations set up by the Natural Reserve of the Jura Range.

The association « Les amis du Vieux Fontenoy » organise a party to celebrate these 40 years. Around one of the oldest Dungeon of Lorraine many activities will be proposed. Built during a prosperous period, this church is in the flamboyant Gothic style of the 15th century. Built by the Burgundian Sires on the remains of a Romanesque building, of which some traces remain (pools), it has a beautiful overall harmony. The unique choir has an altar made of a massive buhr mill, cut from local sandstone. On top of it are anthropomorphic keystones with the effigy of the Lords of Neuchâtel. The sculpted stone pulpit, the baptismal font and the south portal are fine examples of Renaissance architecture. Guided tour every third Monday from March to October, Information and reservations at the Tourist Information Office of La Vôge-Les-Bains, and free visit all year round.

The Lombard Tower is the last trace of the fortifications erected in the 14th century when the town was connected to the House of Burgundy. Also known as the “Tour du Poids”, it was used for administrative purposes during the economic boom of the town during the Renaissance. To discover: 2 traditional vaulted artillery rooms with three gun ports and a beautiful Guard Room on the 3rd level. Tours every third Monday from mid-March to mid-November with the Tourist Information Office of Bains-Les-Bains. Occasional tours by the “Amis du Vieux Fontenoy” association in summer and during the Heritage Days in September.

Free tour of the House of Julie Victoire Daubié in the Manufacture Royale of Bains-les-Bains. In her residence “Maison des Illustres” which is open to visitors, you will discover her reconstructed library, with extracts from her works from original documents entrusted by the BMI of Epinal. A tour in a refined setting that brings to life the era of Julie Victoire.

Between forest, canal and river, the Manufacture Royale of Bains is alongside the walking and cycling path. The manufacture Royale was the most important tinware factory in the Kingdom in the 18th century, with an industry born from wood and water? It is one of the best preserved French industrial sites of the 18th century. The history of this industrial site is fabulous. Baron Falatieu, who brought the Manufacture Royale to a peak, left his mark here. Other personalities did the same: Julie Victoire Daubié, the first French baccalaureate female holder, who was born in the Maison du Caissier in 1824, Cavour, the leader of the Italian unification movement, who stayed there in 1839, and the politician Jules Méline. A visit to the park with its century-old trees allows you to discover the dwarf beech, Unesco's tree of the year in 2011, and the rare species that bear witness to the domain’s rich industrial past (Ginko Biloba, Catalpa, Tulip tree). In the charcoal hall, which was used to store charcoal, you can discover the exhibitions that retrace the history of the tinware factory, thanks to the research of Chantal Starck, Remi Ritter, and Anny Thouvenin with the Departmental Archives... The Manufacture Royale has received many awards for the beauty of its park and terraced gardens, and for its chapel and its stained glass windows, made by Nathalie Noirjean and restored with the help of donors and the Fondation du Patrimoine. One of the oldest paternalist industrial sites in Lorraine, turned since then into dwellings, guest houses, gites and rooms in the castle which tell, like the guided tours, this timeless story. Guided tours of the industrial site, its park and its chapel take place on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month from April to October, upon prior registration at the tourist information office. Groups on reservation. Activities, concerts and exhibitions are offered in June, July and September. The site remains open and accessible all year round, and an exhibition is offered free of charge.

Neo-Gothic chapel from 1861 and former important place of pilgrimage. Here, people pray to the Virgin to heal the sick. The inside is papered with votive offerings. The stained glass windows recall the legend that a statue of the Virgin Mary, originally placed in the hollow of an oak tree in the middle of the “brosse” (brush), mysteriously moved to the church in Bains. In the park surrounding the chapel there is still a mission cross from 1886 and a memorial honouring the parish priest Bernardin, who was responsible for the creation of the chapel. On the back of the tympanum of the entrance, an engraved text reminds us of this.

In the “Museum of glass, iron, wood and the Resistance”, there are countless glass objects, tools, models and photographs illustrating the expertise of the people of the forest over the last five centuries. One room focusses on the French Resistance (1943-44); another highlights the famous glassmaker François-Théodore Legras. In summer 2010, there will be a temporary exhibition entitled, “The Gallo-Romans in Saône Lorraine”.

In the heart of Val-d'Ajol, a 17th-century cross stands out for its diamond shape decorated with fleur-de-lys. At its centre, Christ, head bowed, is surrounded by the Virgin Mary and Saint John, symbols of compassion and faith. The Val-d'Ajol, with its 145 crosses, three of which are listed as Historic Monuments, has a remarkable religious heritage. This cross is part of the largest Way of the Cross in Christendom, offering an exceptionally rich spiritual and cultural journey.

Saint-Jean-Baptiste church is located in Ruaux, a small village in the commune of Plombières-les-Bains. It is classified as a "barn church", a type of construction common in 18th-century Lorraine. The church is one of the few surviving examples of the use of sandstone or "laves" as a roofing material in religious buildings. This technique was mainly used from the second half of the 18th to the 19th century. The building was restored in 1985.

King of Poland and Duke of Lorraine, Stanislas Leszcynski took the waters at Plombières. During his last visit to the city, he gave a "leaf" to his granddaughters, Mrs Adelaide and Mrs Victoire, daughters of Louis XV, near the Civrac barn. There, he learned that a curious fountain was flowing over this place. He was taken there in a sedan chair and when he saw it, he was delighted and shouted: "It is one of nature's beauties and I want it to bear my name". This source deserved Stanislas' attention; it is remarkable for the site that surrounds it. The rock above it bears 4 inscriptions in honour of Stanislas, including one engraved in 1766, the date of the King's tragic death, and another composed in 1813 by the knight and then Marquis de Boufflers (1738-1815), son of the spiritual Marquise who often came to Plombières alongside the King. On the left, a head is carved on a small rock and reminds us that Berlioz wrote his opera Les Troyens here in 1856 and 1857.
