Misson is a small village that stretches over 14.7 kilometres. It is situated at an altitude of 90 metres and has about 800 inhabitants. It is crossed by the stream of Leplace, the stream of Grand Arrigan and the stream of Yats. Misson is twinned with the town of Arnac in the Cantal. In 1641, Misson belonged to the royal provostry of Dax, which bought from Louis XII certain domain rights. Fifty years ago, Misson was home to renowned clog makers and gem makers. Today these trades have disappeared but they reappear in some craft exhibitions. Nowadays, the identity of the village reflects a long history.

The Adour is a river, by following it, you will observe the fauna and the flora, you will discover the old port, the vestiges of the 1st thermal baths of Préchacq-les-Bains (still thermal station today), the mill of Onard, etc. The Voie Verte is an itinerary forbidden to motorized vehicles which can lead you to Montfort-en-Chalosse, a 13th century bastide and the Musée de la Chalosse (agricultural life in the 19th century) then to Mugron (heritage trail, Rouge Garance art gallery).

The Petite Ferme de Pouillon is an educational farm which has a 5-hectare animal park with lamas, miniature pigs, ponies, donkeys, sheep, chickens, ducks, rabbits, guinea pigs, etc. Pony rides for kids and campground at the farm : Indian tepee rental. Refreshment stand, playground, archery, picnic tables. The farm travels everywhere in Aquitaine. Regular opening hours : year-round, saturday and sunday from 2 to 7pm, or by booking ahead. This fountain with medicinal properties is along the Route de Mimbaste. Extremely old, the Bidas spring comes from Triassic period land, i.e. dating from the earliest geological period of the Mesozoic era. The water is salty, warm (20°C/68°F) and contains iron. It was subject to intensive production. In the 17th century, the Count of Luppé filled a bottle from the spring and gave it to the Sun King (King Louis XIV) who was captivated by this water’s medicinal virtues. In 1906 an attempt to make use of the spring, authorised by the French Academy of Medicine, was implemented. The water was even bottled in order to sell it. Nevertheless, the business was a failure. It’s now a scenic walk for the numerous hikers who follow the sunken path leading there.
