Along the bed of the Adour, the barthes are undeveloped wetlands. They extend from Tarnos to Pontonx over nearly 12,000 hectares and have the particularity of being frequently flooded by runoff from the hillsides, rising alluvial water tables and the overflow of rivers. These exceptionally rich areas offer a diverse natural habitat: tree bats, wood-eating insects, otters, cistude and European mink, and marsh copper (a butterfly that breeds on sorrel) are all species that can be found in our Adour barthes. Worked by Man from the 18th century to be drained and cultivated, they are still today crossed by dykes, canals and ditches. At the bend of the Path of Adour, between Gousse and Goos, you will be able to observe the storks which nest at the year between Gousse and Préchacq.

The neo-gothic style building, in the shape of a Latin cross, was built at the end of the 19th century by the architect Dupuy. It was consecrated on June 24, 1888 by Bishop Delannoy, the same day that the new bridge over the Adour was inaugurated, in the perspective of which the church is placed (south-north oriented, not canonically oriented). Mainly composed of limestone, the ornamental sculpture is made of Angoulême stone. The building is entirely covered with slate except for the bell tower, which is topped with a stone spire.

A small church, but how curious is the ogival door under the porch, above which, in a sculpted frame, appear shapeless and scattered bas-reliefs where one guesses, among others, a small pietà, a medieval rider, other enigmatic symbols... Could it be the "apocalypse" according to Saint John? The 15th century sanctuary is rustic, interesting for its porch bell tower with a polygonal spire. The interior houses a 19th century painting of Christ on the Cross, donated by Napoleon III. The altar is decorated with five gilded statues of saints.
