The Garonne and its canal punctuate this walk, which first follows the peaceful Garonne canal before crossing the river twice, on the canal bridge and then on the suspended footbridge. These remarkable structures show the ingenuity of man in settling on the banks of rivers and protecting himself from them, in order to cross them and to guarantee their navigability, digging a channel or even a canal in parallel to avoid both high and low water. The dykes where you will walk, the works that link the town of Le Passage to Agen, the Pont-de-Pierre whose first construction dates back to the beginning of the 19th century, the footbridge painstakingly built in 1841, restored at the beginning of this millennium, and the Pont-Canal, remarkable with its 23 stone arches and its 580 m length. Finally, the Garonne canal and its old canalet which allowed boats to reach the river.

This walk on the hillside offers you the opportunity to discover the area, once known as "Little Nice" for its "Belle Epoque" villas, which was very popular in the 19th century for its bucolic setting.

The variant of the Compostellane du Puy road leaves the capital of Agen to reach Lamontjoie, a charming village at the gateway to the Gers where the path joins the GR 65 at La Romieu.

The Gaillard loop offers you access to the Ermitage plateau from the east and then offers you panoramic views over the Pays de Serres and the Garonne valley.

Starting from the church of Monbran, this circuit crosses twice the valleys of the Ségone and its small tributary the Ridounel. It climbs the hills of Trégan, Cayssat and Monbran offering magnificent views. The history of the site of Monbran, a place appreciated by hikers for its panorama on the Garonne and its old stones, goes back to the XIIth-XIIIth century with the construction of the Romanesque church in local stones and the castle in 1217, which became the summer residence of the bishops of Agen. One of the most famous bishops, Mattéo Badello, wrote many short stories there, such as "Romeo and Juliet", which inspired William Shakespeare. Transformed into a sanatorium at the beginning of the century, the castle is now a convalescence center.

The only remaining part of the Dominican convent, founded in Agen in 1249, the church was built in the second half of the 13th century. Founded in 1876, this museum is one of the richest in the Southwest.
