On the Chemins du Soleil circuit, heading towards the plateau, you can admire the St Thomas chapel with its remarkable 12th-century frescoes.

Starting out from Thorame-Basse or Château Garnier, the Chemins du Soleil trails take you to the hamlets of Château Garnier and La Bâtie, which have developed a sheep farming industry suited to the area's farmland.

Forest and alpine route. Alternative route: Le Cheval Blanc via the ridges. Its summit offers an exceptional panorama (+ 3 h + 560 m ascent).

Departing from the village of Thorame-Haute, this mountain bike loop takes in forest tracks and paths. It runs alongside cultivated plots, pastures and coniferous forests, far from the hustle and bustle. At the end of the loop, the banks of Lac des Sagnes offer the chance to relax in the shade and take a picnic break. This route, signposted to FFC standards, is a great way to discover the mountain bocage that straddles the Verdon and Issole valleys. In this area, the agricultural fabric is still dense, and the landscapes crossed are strongly marked by the presence of animals, notably sheep with the "Agneaux de Sisteron - IGP Label Rouge" label. The end of the loop leads to a soothing water reservoir built in 1960 for the irrigation of neighboring plots. Please note that swimming is prohibited. The site is surrounded by coniferous trees, providing shade for hikers, mountain bikers and picnicking families alike. At the tail end of the reservoir is a sensitive area comprising wet meadows, low marshes and a vast reedbed at the bottom of the valley. Don't put your wheels there! Numerous slope springs feed this wetland, which gives rise to the Riou Tort stream, on which the Conservatoire d'espaces naturels de Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur has been working for several years to encourage a project to restore its hydrological functioning.

This relatively easy family hike can be started from the villages of Thorame-Haute or Thorame-Basse. It passes close to Lac des Sagnes, where you can discover the Espace Ludique d'Orientation (game book downloadable from the Tourist Office website). The route crosses meadows and the hamlet of Moustiers, where sheep farming is very active.

Taking the emblematic Blanc Martel trail without taking your car couldn't be easier, thanks to the shuttle bus and the Zou 450 regional line (ex BV1 )from Riez, Roumoules, Moustiers-Sainte-Marie and Castellane. Shuttle service resumes on 28/04/2023. How does it work? The Zou 450 regional line links Riez to Castellane via the village of La Palud-sur-Verdon. From La Palud-sur-Verdon, the Blanc-Martel shuttle bus takes you to the Chalet de la Maline, the trailhead. The trail ends at Point Sublime (Rougon). For your return journey, take the shuttle bus to the village of La Palud-sur-Verdon and/or the regional line 450 to Riez or Castellane. Timetables... To ensure optimum operation, the timetables of the Riez-Castellane regional line (450) and the Blanc-Martel shuttle are coordinated. Online booking is highly recommended if you want to be sure of getting a seat! Please note that the shuttle does not return to Chalet de la Maline in the afternoon.

Since 1922, our mill extracts extra virgin olive oil, a genuine fruit juice, only with mechanical means to olive oil amateurs’ great joy. For more than 40 years we have been making cosmetics and soap made in a cauldron just like Marseille soap. The harvest of olives is done manually with hand and automatic combs to preserve olives quality. Then, we proceed to the grinding of the fruit with a simple mechanical method, without the addition of chemicals or change in temperature. At the end of the grinding, we get an extra virgin olive oil with a free acidity lower than 0.8%. Our mill produces a local extra virgin olive oil. Our olive oil is peppery and refreshing which is specific to the aglandau olives (90%). Nearly 400 olive growers bring their olives to supply you with: - Green fruity olive oil - Local olive oil All our products are available at our shop and online shop: olive oil, homemade products, Marseille soaps… We also make basil, mint and lemon oils. Olive oil sold at the Serres, Orpierre, Sisteron and Laragne tourist offices. We offer visits of our soap factory from April to September by prior arrangement.

There are lots of Paeonia officinalis (common Peony) at the top of Mont Chalvet and have a preference for clear and deforested areas. They need 4 to 5 years to bloom once the seeds have been planted. This is what makes it a protected flower and unique with its flamboyant colours.

The mountain Apollo (Parnassius apollo), this butterfly with a hairy body is subordinate to the mountainous climate. Its caterpillar eats succulent plants: stonecrops, houseleeks. At the end of the larval period, it forms a loose cocoon slightly buried before turning into a chrysalid. The mountain Apollon hibernates in the egg state.

A unique flour mill museum ! From 1902, the flour mill of La Mure-Argens, built in a former drapery, produce flour for 70 years. Since 2016, the museum welcomes you into this industrial mill. Let's be guided or come lose yourself in this maze of machines arranged on 4 levels. Discover the museum in family, with adaptated areas for young people, with manipulatives that invite you to touch, play and test the mechanisms.

Essential to the men and their cattle feed, salt came mostly from saline. There is another salt resource, closer to people: they are the salt springs that are found everywhere in Provence. This precious salt demonstrates the presence of a marine environment in these places during the Mesozoic era, 220 million years ago. The Saint-André is rich in sources of this type.

The Plage du Plan in Saint André les Alpes is located 2 km from the village center on the road to Nice. This beach on the shores of Lac de Castillon, fed by the Verdon river, is sure to please young and old alike. The village of Courchons is located at 1300 meters above sea level and occupies a mountainous plateau overlooking the lake Castillon, offering exceptional views. The distillery was built in 1905 by an internationally-established German company. Set in the heart of the machinery, the museum is dedicated to the surprising history of this factory and the distillation of lavender in the Grasse hinterland. Aromatic plants, essential oils and games will awaken all your senses. Also worth a visit is the museum store dedicated to lavender and perfume plants. Events are held regularly in July and August.
