This easy, breathtaking loop takes you through some of the Juridiction's finest estates. After the iconic Cité, the small roads take you to Château Haut-Sarpe, one of the oldest wine estates, and Château Faugère, where you can appreciate the modernist winery, built into the hillside by architect Mario Botta. There are plenty of opportunities to stop and appreciate the landscape of hillsides and vineyards that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Château Grand-Corbin is located in Saint-Emilion, in the north-west of the appellation, next to Pomerol. The vineyard covers 37 hectares in a single block, 28.5 hectares of which are classified as Grand Cru Classé. The estate has been a proud member of the Saint-Emilion classification since 2012. The property is located on a terroir of silica on a bed of blue clay, where the three grape varieties of Saint-Emilion flourish: Merlot (generally around 70-80% in the blend), Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Thanks to the know-how of an experienced team, recent vintages have confirmed the progress made both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Traces of ancient agriculture

1er Grand Cru Classé A - Famille de Bouärd - Closed to the public The estate owes its name to the location of the vineyard, from where the winegrowers could hear the Angelus bells of the three surrounding churches: the chapel of Mazerat, the church of Saint-Martin-de-Mazerat and that of Saint-Émilion. Owned by the Boüard de Laforest family since the end of the 18th century, the estate has gradually expanded and is currently managed by Mr Hubert de Bouärd de Laforest.

Listed as a historic monument since 1920. This small Romanesque Latin cross church was built at the end of the 11th and beginning of the 12th centuries, and only became part of the parish of Saint-Emilion after the French Revolution in 1790. In the 16th century, the top floor of the church tower was demolished by the jurats of Saint Emilion to prevent the Protestants from using it as a fortress at the entrance to the predominantly Catholic town, and restored in 1975.

Tel: 05.57.55.23.45 In 1759, Jacques Kanon, a privateer for the King of France Louis XV, was defeated by the English navy off the coast of Montreal. On his return home, he used the spoils of his races to acquire a vineyard in St-Emilion. More than 2 centuries later, Chanel bought the property.

This section of wall is the elegant remains of an imposing Dominican convent, built in the 13th century. It included a church, a cloister, a chapter house and a bell tower. It was deliberately destroyed barely a century later, at the beginning of the Hundred Years' War, because of its proximity to the fortified enclosure. Taken by the enemy, it would have been a choice support point to the greatest disadvantage of the city. The Dominicans then found a better shelter within the walls.

The architectural heritage of the 8 market towns that make up the jurisdiction of Saint Emilion bears witness to the constant evolution of this landscape and its inhabitants: religious heritage, winegrowing heritage, manor houses, wine storehouses, dovecotes, windmills and washhouses. As a result, the Saint Emilion area was listed as a World Heritage Site in 1999 under the heading of ‘Cultural Landscape’. It was the 1st vineyard in the world to be listed. Towards the end of the 11th century, a college of canons was instituted to bring rigour back into the life habits of the Saint-Emilion religious. A convent with its cloister and a Romanesque church was then erected, which became the collegiate church. Erected in the 12th century, the nave, as well as its porch surmounted by a shaved bell tower, have retained their Romanesque style. The choir dates from the 14th century and houses a listed organ, the only instrument built in 1892 by Gabriel Cavaillé-Coll, son of the famous organ builder of the 19th century, Aristide Cavaillé-Coll.

This church, built between the 12th and 15th centuries, is one of the most imposing in the Gironde. It housed the Augustinian Canons' College which remained in this monastery until the end of the French Revolution. Testimony of many remodelling: Romanesque and Gothic styles cohabit both in the church and in its cloister.
