The mouth of the Adour River is a sudden change of course: let's head east along the river to the historic shopping town of Bayonne, where the architectural treasures are a great incentive to take a curious break. Cycling facilities are a great help in getting through the city and, again with the Adour River, the route takes in the surrounding countryside.

Here is a stage of the Velodymede with exceptional views of the ocean, but somewhat sporty and shared with the cars. Don't hesitate to put your bike down: picnic areas, tables and interpretation trails are placed all along the route.

From the top of the cliff, perched on the ‘Love Tower’, on a clear day, looking north, you can see not only the Anglet coastline, but also the vastness of the Landes beaches. Cap Saint-Martin, dominated by the lighthouse built in 1832, marks the boundary between Anglet and Biarritz. At the foot of the cliff, don't forget to stop off in front of the famous Grotte de la Chambre d'Amour and discover the beautiful legend that has made the reputation of our town. To extend your stroll along the coast... on foot, join the seafront promenade; by bike, take the boulevard des plages.

Direction Anglet for a bike ride on equipped roads. We leave to the discovery of the forest of Pignada, place of walk and oxygenation privileged of the Angloys. The circuit reveals the privileged passages towards the lake of Chiberta and directs you between the coquettish villas, of Moorish, art-deco or neo-basque style. It also follows the golf courses and offers options for detours to the ocean beaches. Pine forest, labyrinth of villas and proximity to fine sandy beaches, the atmosphere is multiple.

Anglet's beaches stretch for 4.5 km from north to south and are bordered by a pathway known as the Promenade Littorale (Victor Mendiboure Promenade), enabling walkers and sports enthusiasts to link the lively La Barre and Chambre d'Amour districts on foot. All along the promenade, there are freely accessible playgrounds, relaxation areas and leisure facilities for all the family. There's a skatepark, a basketball court, beach volleyball courts, children's play areas and sports equipment. The first part of the coastal path offers a great diversity of atmospheres, alternating beaches, creeks, paths and small roads. Warning : the coastal path is temporarily closed between Bidart and Guéthary, a deviation is set up at the level of the chapel St Joseph.

Coming from the Miramar beach, passing at the foot of the Hotel du Palais, former imperial residence, the promenade runs along the beach. In the 17th century, convinced of the therapeutic virtues of sea bathing, the insane were plunged there, which earned the place the name of "côte des Fous". It is the postcard beach with its palace transformed into a palace, its striped tents and its children's clubs. Biarritz's Art Deco Town Hall occupies a building dating from 1928-1929, which was originally the "Au Bon Marché" department store. The municipality acquired the building in order to transform it into the Hôtel de Ville. Architects Fraysse, Huguenin, Vanel and Giraudel were commissioned to carry out the work. The building opened to the public in 1954. The façade was completely renovated in June 2010.
