Pass at the foot of the Tour de l'Horloge, follow the Aires street and exit the ramparts through Aires Portal Turn left and follow the road to the chapel of Notre-Dame de la Délivrance and then, on the other side of the road, on the rural path of Devensaux. 1- At 150 m, leave the small road and turn right on chemin de la Trinité. The dirt road becomes tarred after college. Climb up by the path to the chapel Sainte-Trinité, pass below, and join a dirt road to the first caves of Aups. Continue on the road for another 300 m to reach, nestled in the wall, the Sainte-Magdeleine chapel. Continue the route under the green oaks, and follow a low wall to reach an intersection. 2 - Go back along the path to the valley on the left and access the forest track. Take the track on the right. Continue for 1 km, then join a cistern and the junction with the track of the Grand Colle. Follow it on the left. It is tarred for 400 m, then continue on the dirt road to the Col de Brès. 3 - Just before the Col de Brès, climb on the path to the left. The climb lasts 800 m to the top of the Espiguières mountain. The path continues on the plateau up to a tank (1 km). 4 - Take a small path on the left in the woods to quickly reach the Croix des Pins (round trip). Return to the track and continue the crossing. Go down the path through the forest and then join the forest path of Croix des Pins at 1.7 km. 5 - On the track turn to the right and 800 m later turn left on the small Devensaux road. Return by the latter to the village and lead in point 1. Continue on the road up to the Aups’s doors. Return to the starting point by the small streets of the village.

Continue the route under the green oaks, walk along a low wall and join the intersection with the Croix des Pins path2- Follow the path on the right and go down along dry stone walls. Join a small road, continue to descend, pass the buildings of the oil mill and get to the departmental road from Aups to Tourtour. Go back through the Charles Boyer alley to the village.

At the top of the ridges of the Var, enjoy panoramas at 360° endless forests and mysterious Chapels. From the parking lot Col de la Bigue, cross the road and take the path on the right from the fire water tank. Roam the path on the ridge until the intersection at 800m. 1 - Take the left path going into the woods, follow the ridge for about 1.5km to the Notre-Dame de Liesse fork with a peak at 996m. Turn right on the path going up to the chapel (round trip itinerary; remarkable view). From the chapel, come back to the crossroads and continue the path in the woods. Go down the Collet de Liesse. 2 - Don't take the left path going down to Verignon and continue straight on the ridge towards Saint-Priest. Reach the Chapel in about 3km. Go down the road for about 1.5km passing in front of a ruined barn on the left. 3 - Take the track starting on the right. It joins a path below at 900m (DFCI water tank). 4 - Follow the path on the right until the intersection at 500m. Turn right, stay on the main road for another 1.5km before reaching the intersection of the tracks of la Grave and le Brès. 5 - Follow the track on the right (la Grave) and go down the valley of the Grande Colle. 6 - Take the track rising on the right. Go up the valley for 2km. At the top, we can recognize the Notre-Dame de Liesse chapel. The path reaches a peak before a slight descent. Continue on the descending path towards the Col de la Bigue. A 800m before the pass, the trail reaches the point (1). Take a left to return to the starting point.

Pass the town hall and go up the road to the oratory up to the plateau. After passing the St. Eloi oratory, cross the main road and follow slightly across the Chemin de Vérignon. 1- Take an immediate left to the Ravas track. The track travels in a forest of pines and oaks. Leave behind a path on the right and at 1.3km, reach a cistern and a crossroads of 6 tracks. 2 - Continue across on the "Pont Romain" track. Cross the Plaine forest and 900m further, reach a track coming from the right, then 300m further, take a small path to the right between the oaks just after the tank. 3- From the passing, come out on the other side of the hill. Take the right path. Continue on the route amidst the oak trees, past a pool and come out "Pont Romain" track. 4- Go across and reach after 300m the crossroads of 6 tracks. Go back to the village by the left path taken to go.

This hike from a village with character will be done in a gentle landscape and pine forest environment. From the fountain, engage in the Rue de l'eglise and go down the first staircase on the left. Continue on the path to the Reynouard house (shaded path between walls), then cross the D30. Continue straight to the next intersection and turn left. Then after 200m, reach the "Chemin du Plan" to the right. Continue on this small road lined with clearings and pass a countryside basketry workshop. Continue for 1.7km to the field of the Gros Bec domain. 1- Continue straight on the dirt road entering the forest of Pélenc. Leave behind the different fires track to the sides and continue straight for 2km. 2- Commit to the right on the "Chemin du Vallon de Bolle". Follow it for 1km and head back through the green oak forest, the valley until the crossroads of Chemin de Moissac and Chemin de Régusse. 3- Follow the direction of Moissac (not shown) to the right. Proceed on the second track. Follow the path, under the oaks in front of the old coal and the tank of the Maquisards then go down for 500m until the track "Baquis". Follow it to a tank. Continue straight in the middle of the pines. At the next intersection (800m), leave to the right the "Piste de l'Auviduery" and take the second path to the left. The path goes back up the plateau and to reach at a barrier a junction of routes to Moissac and Régusse. 4- Descend by the right track towards the village. Reaching out of the woods, go up the path to the main road. Follow it to the right for 50m and then turn left into the "Chemin de la Croix Vieille". It goes directly to the village of Moissac- Bellevue.

Cross the village by the Grand Rue and head down to the windmills by the Rue des Moulins. Pass the two mills and follow the small road (CD 260) for 800m. Continue straight to the intersection with the Chemin de la Sine. Take a right on the Avenue Jean Giono (paved road on 600m). Continue on a dirt road in the middle of the forest for 2.3km. 1- In the woods, reach by the track the Commemorative Rock of the maquis of Pélenc. Turn left on the "Piste de Moissac". The roadside is lined with stone markers indicating the limits of the state-owned forest. At the "Valley de Bolle" track (not shown), reach by the route the intersection between Moissac and Régusse. 2- Follow the direction of Moissac. Leave a first track behind, then proceed on the second one ("Piste du Cadastre "). Follow the path that passes by the old coal burners in front of the Maquis tank. Go down for 500m to the "Baquis" track. Follow it to a tank. Continue straight in the middle of the pines. At the next intersection (800m), leave to the right the "Piste de l'Auviduery" (not shown) and take the second path to the left. Go back up the plateau (viewpoint of the village) and reach at a barrier a junction of the routes to Moissac and Régusse. 3 - Turn left on Chemin de Régusse. Leave a path starting on the left, past a ruin then, at the forest exit, reach a small road. Follow it for 100m and at the intersection turn left on the road. Come out at the St. Eloy oratory on the Avenue Frédéric Mistral. Enter the village by the road (for your security, walk on the left side of the road).

Taking the emblematic Blanc Martel trail without taking your car couldn't be easier, thanks to the shuttle bus and the Zou 450 regional line (ex BV1 )from Riez, Roumoules, Moustiers-Sainte-Marie and Castellane. Shuttle service resumes on 28/04/2023. How does it work? The Zou 450 regional line links Riez to Castellane via the village of La Palud-sur-Verdon. From La Palud-sur-Verdon, the Blanc-Martel shuttle bus takes you to the Chalet de la Maline, the trailhead. The trail ends at Point Sublime (Rougon). For your return journey, take the shuttle bus to the village of La Palud-sur-Verdon and/or the regional line 450 to Riez or Castellane. Timetables... To ensure optimum operation, the timetables of the Riez-Castellane regional line (450) and the Blanc-Martel shuttle are coordinated. Online booking is highly recommended if you want to be sure of getting a seat! Please note that the shuttle does not return to Chalet de la Maline in the afternoon.

The Saint Priest chapel appears to have been built in 1098. Saint Priest himself lived in the 7th century. He was a bishop of Clermont and was the founder of many monasteries in his diocese. One can also say that unlike Liesse-Notre-Dame, this chapel is located in a more pleasant environment. A full carpet of grass covers the ground and some trees with generous branches provide a shade which tempts a well-deserved nap after so much effort.

The length and diversity of this walk let you discover a dozen species of orchids during spring, they are discreet bulbous plants. The labellum of the ophrys does not have any spurs and looks more or less, by its hairiness, its fleckings and colour like an insect (various Dipterous and Hymenopterans). Orchis have a labellum equipped with a spur, never resembling an insect and their petals and sepals are often gathered in a more or less loose palmate manner.

Curious that this chapel, in Christian imagery holy Magdeleine hermit par excellence, remains linked to caves and troglodytism. According to the communal archives, the cave was converted into a chapel in 1635 by the inhabitants of the village. They close this crevice by a wall of facade with door and fenestron First a small place of worship, it becomes a hermitage in 1666.A mass was said there on July 22. Later, it is abandoned like other chapels.

This kind of modification is found in chapels converted into barns. A military marker served as rubble at the base of one of the walls.

On December 2, 1851, our villages rise up to defend the Republic against the coup d'etat of Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte. Few people remember it. Peasants, bourgeois, artisans took up the weapons. They will be killed, arrested, deported, imprisoned. In Aups, a monument to the dead is erected for these fighters, the place is named Martin Bidouré in tribute to a young man shot twice. So many facts that place the village at the heart of this revolt, provincial and rural.

The public areas, where the grain was trodden but also where the local tax was levied in kind until the revolution, were often in height, in windy places which allowed to better separate dust and screenings of the grain. They gave their name to this neighbourhood. We are outside the medieval district whose eastern limit is constituted by the street of the Aires at the bottom of which rises the Clock tower.

On the pediment is written the motto of the Republicans "Freedom, equality, fraternity" Indeed, the Var insurgents against the coup d'état of Louis Napoleon Bonaparte took refuge in the collegiate Saint-Pancrace during the "Battle of Aups" of 10 December 1851. At the time of the promulgation of the law of separation of the Church and the State in 1905, the Aupsois decided quite naturally like other communes of high Var to affix the motto of the French republic on the portal of their church.

The clock tower was erected in the sixteenth century, first as a watchtower to protect the village and then served as a prison in safer times. Topped with a wrought iron campanile, inscribed in historical monuments, there is installed on the facade a clock. Inside the campanile is a sundial of great precision dating from 1760 with the motto "Ruris and urbis normal laborum" (I regulate the work of the family and fields).

This large chapel, which dominates the agglomeration from a vast terrace, was built in 1852, in a neo-Gothic style. The events relating to the insurrection against the coup d'etat of Louis Napoleon Bonaparte, in 1851, made Aups the "center of the red Var". The order is restored in this year 1852, the prince-president became the Emperor Napoleon III. He amnesties the city which then decides to make this building, thanks to a vast subscription launched among the inhabitants.

One of the defining features of orchids holds in the specialization of their flower where everything tends to ensure the best possible pollination at a lower energy cost. The "best of the best" is reached among the "Ophrys" where one of the petals looks just like (for the average pollinator) the body of a female insect. In wanting to hug the female, the male gets the pollen on its head, which it will try disseminate by attempt the adventure on a nearby flower.
