The Pey-Berland tower, a flamboyant Gothic structure built between 1440 and 1466, is the bell tower of Saint-André cathedral in Bordeaux. The Port Cailhau, thirty-five metres tall, was integrated into the city walls. In 1864, it was rented by a public letter writer and a person whose job was to weigh salt. They were both evicted in order to renovate the monument. There is a magnificent view of the oldest bridge in Bordeaux, the Pont de Pierre, from here. An exhibition displays the tools and materials used for construction purposes at the time the Porte Cailhau was built and an audio-visual presentation pieced together from old films immerses us in the world of stone masonry.

The Château de Rouillac, a magnificent 19th century chartreuse, belonged to the famous Baron Haussmann who produced an excellent wine. In 2010, Laurent Cisneros, a man of passion, decided to seal his destiny and that of his family in Rouillac. He revived the estate, launched major works, expanded the vineyard and committed himself to a more environmentally friendly agriculture. He associated horses with the history of the estate by rehabilitating the old stables. Today, Château de Rouillac is one of the jewels in the crown of the Pessac-Léognan appellation. Its great wines reflect the finesse of the terroir, the elegance of the chartreuse and the character of the family.
