The Romanesque church, built between the end of the 11th century and the beginning of the 12th century, is located on a promontory and forms with the medieval castle a major ensemble of the village. The building was modified in the Gothic period. The choir rests on a Romanesque crypt decorated with Gothic wall paintings representing Christ in majesty surrounded by the symbols of the evangelists and a Virgin and Child. The church also houses Gothic vaults that were used to house the tombs of the lords of Morthemer. It is also in this church that the English Constable John Chandos, mortally wounded during a Franco-English fight at the bridge of Lussac in 1369, would have been buried. Classified as a Historic Monument in 1908.
