A charming route along the ocean and river, punctuated by a visit to the historic center of Bayonne. All the magic of the Basque country is to be found between the sandy beaches lined with maritime pines and the banks of the River Nive, with the Pyrenees as a backdrop. This varied itinerary, devoid of tedious climbs and almost entirely on closed roads, is perfect for the whole family!

Between the golf course and the forest, succumb to Anglet's unique way of life! From the Montbrun district, the green lane, reserved for bicycles, promises a quiet ride through the magnificent pine forest. Disconnection is guaranteed! In the middle of the pines and ferns, the city and the ocean seem very far away. The plant smells and the absolute calm of the place are very soothing. At the end, a cycle track awaits you and takes you through the peaceful district of Chiberta, its lake, its Basque or architect's houses in the shade of the pines and its two golf courses, ideally situated between ocean and forest. On the way back, you will once again pass along the Pignada forest, a wooded area that offers a shaded and cool area, ideal for walks and the practice of numerous sporting activities.

Direction Anglet for a bike ride on equipped roads. We leave to the discovery of the forest of Pignada, place of walk and oxygenation privileged of the Angloys. The circuit reveals the privileged passages towards the lake of Chiberta and directs you between the coquettish villas, of Moorish, art-deco or neo-basque style. It also follows the golf courses and offers options for detours to the ocean beaches. Pine forest, labyrinth of villas and proximity to fine sandy beaches, the atmosphere is multiple.

Even before you put your bag on your back, the access to this walk already reveals a historical dimension since you take the D22, an ancient Roman secondary road to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, which became the route des Cimes under the First Empire, trodden by Napoleonic armies. Once equipped, a two-faceted walk awaits you. The first part dares a foray into the cool and humid Artague* valley, where you have the chance to discover a great variety of plants, judiciously presented by didactic panels: fragon, dogwood, ash, willow, borage, ferns, hazel trees, oaks, maples, elms, alders, wild cherry trees... All this punctuated by small waterfalls and other places of freshness, before going up on the panoramic hills of the second part of the hike. The last wetland on the left bank of the Adour before the Bayonne conurbation, the barthes of Lahonce is a real green lung and a place of passage and food for birdlife (marsh harrier, white eland, little egret, falcon, stork). The barthes are a mosaic of environments, with meadows, hedges, fields and waterholes, a real ecological corridor between the Adour and the first hills of the Basque Country. Its classification as a sensitive natural area is therefore highly justified. Starting from the Arbéou lake, this itinerary, which has been gently laid out for walking or cycling, is accessible to all (no problem of hypoxia, the path does not exceed 2 m in altitude!). It first visits the residential areas along the river, then glides along the edge of the barthes with the regulation canals as its common thread.

Ideal for pushchairs, small bikes and wheelchairs. Close to the sea and the mythical sites of Biarritz, here is a peaceful and refreshing walk by a lake.
