On this walk, you'll have to take a leap, a very big leap back in time: imagine yourself in the Middle Ages... in these parts, it was worth the detour! The Priory of St-Denys en Vaulx belonged to the royal abbey of St-Denys-en-France and benefited from numerous privileges granted successively by Dagobert I and Charles the Bald. It was around 1152 that the monk Guillaume of St-Denys Abbey in Paris was exiled there, and left a very precise description of the joie de vivre that reigned on these lands: "My valley is crowned with delights..." In addition to this rather cheerful atmosphere, you'll discover the Notre-Dame church, the Priory (privately owned) and the centuries-old oak tree of the Moulin de Chapt. A feeling of escape guaranteed! Starting from the village of Oyré, pedal into the heart of the Guerche forest and discover the hunting lodge at the center of the wood. And after a long pedal, it will take you to the banks of the Creuse to recharge your batteries.

Along the way, you'll pass through the woods of La Rabellerie, La Pagerie and Valençay, and skirt the magnificent Parc de la Maisonneuve. In the 1980s, excavations at the Croix-Blanche site uncovered numerous tombs and religious buildings dating from the Neolithic to the Gallo-Roman period. This important protohistoric site is now covered over. In the heart of the village, you can also visit the 12th-century church of Saint-Hilaire and its former 17th-century presbytery, now converted into a media library.

Your ride starts with a gentle climb past the beautiful Domaine de la Moralière . Discover the magnificent Château de la Motte and continue along undulating roads surrounded by woods and fields. A short detour takes you through the pretty flower-filled village of Mondion, before descending to Vellèches and its Marmande tower on your left. Pass the village and, on your right, the beautiful "La Rie" estate. After some undergrowth, descend into the Vienne valley, with a lovely view of Valençay castle and the Bois de la Rose.

From the pretty Place de la Mairie, you'll reach a beautiful little hilly road on the heights of Chandignon. Through the woods, you come to the picturesque village of Vaux-sur-Vienne, with its beautiful church. Descend again, crossing the Vienne river, pass through the village of Ingrandes-sur-Vienne and continue through the fields. Climb back up through the hamlet of Saint-Ustre with its pretty campsite and Moulin. Then head back down and take a break at the "Gros Caillou" lake. After crossing the Vienne bridge again, take the Scandiberique, the European cycle route, to the finish.

Saint-Hilaire Church dates back to the second half of the 12th century, and stands on the banks of the Vienne River, extending from a square planted with linden and plane trees that forms the village?s central space. It is a Romanesque building constructed of ashlar and limestone, with a single nave, transept and choir ending in a semi-circular apse. The church is covered in slate, with the apse in flat tile.
