Start your walk at the emblematic historic site of "La Manu", a former arms factory! Discover the Ligne Verte, Sylvain Chavanel?s route, a former railroad line transformed into a greenway! A short passage through the Châtellerault state forest, with views over the Vienne valley. These views can be admired as far as Corset. Continuing on, discover the Moulin du Souhé, one of the oldest known mills on the Clain, and the Gallo-Roman theater of Vieux Poitiers, a unique testimony to an ancient city. Join Cenon-sur-Vienne across the plain for a stop at the Pointe de Forclan, the mouth of 2 rivers, the Clain and the Vienne. Return to Châtellerault for a break in the garden of the director of "La Manu".

You'll learn all about the miracle of seeds and their free transport, the reclamation of space by nature; you'll catch the hare, the woodpecker or the badger taking refuge in this haven of greenery. The somewhat unusual start is from a large wooded park with a small castle, the Parc du Verger! Climb up to the heights of Châtellerault to enjoy the view. Your journey takes you between fields and woods, with a few pretty hamlets in between. On the way back, you'll have another chance to admire the beautiful views over the town of Châtellerault.

This route takes us along the ancient Roman road to discover the remains of the Gallo-Roman site of Vieux Poitiers! Take a break in the magnificent park of the Grande Maison, and if time permits, take a ride on an electric boat.

We start with superb views over the Vienne valley, continue past a number of crosses and 15th and 18th century châteaux, not forgetting a detour to Chitré, and finish the tour by passing the famous "Lépine" oil mill and its press. A picnic area awaits you in the hamlet of Prinçay.

The carillon was installed in Saint-Jacques church in 1867 at the instigation of the parish priest, Abbé Boislabeille. The Bollée family, founders and engineers in Le Mans, proposed the construction of a substantial carillon. It consisted of 50 bells distributed between the two bell towers: 6 large bells to the south, 44 smaller ones to the north, financed entirely by donations from parishioners. It is equipped with an automatic set controlled by the clock, which is triggered three times a day. The Bollée family made the Châtellerault carillon unique by adding a manual carillon equipped with a carillon machine: this power transmission system enabled the carillonneur to play the bells with his fingertips on a simple piano keyboard. The carillon bells were blessed on November 13, 1867, and ran smoothly for 60 years, punctuating the lives of local residents with their daily melodies.
