The Pey-Berland tower, a flamboyant Gothic structure built between 1440 and 1466, is the bell tower of Saint-André cathedral in Bordeaux. In Martignas-sur-Jalle, nature lovers enjoy walks along the banks of the Jalles River, ideal for discovering the particular flora and fauna of this protected site classified Natura 2000. From the Moulin Bidon site, named after the Bidon family's old water mill, you can walk along the paths and, thanks to the duckboards, keep your feet dry, even in the wetlands. A picnic area, two bowling alleys, a giant checkers game and an exhibition on biodiversity await you. Nearby, in the Colette Besson leisure park, a brand new astronomical observatory has just been inaugurated.

This fun and recreational park is the western entrance to the Parc des Jalles, which runs along the Vallée de la Jalle in Saint-Jean-d'Illac at its mouth with the Garonne. A large part of the site is dedicated to sports activities (rugby, football and Australian football, archery, weightlifting...). More educational, or just for the pleasure of strolling along the banks, the walk along the Jalle will lead you to the sources of the Thil and Gamarde rivers, passing through many play areas: water games, islands of plants, a plant maze, arboretum ... a little further on you will see an old grain mill, which is not open to the public Occasionally, part of the site can also be used for circuses, garage sales, the Jalles House Rock festival and other events.

A monumental fountain in Mérignac, the Fontaine d'Arlac has a natural and constant spring. Built at the end of the 18th century, this fountain could be the work of Peixotto, the owner of the Maison Carrée d'Arlac, or of the Jurade de Bordeaux. It may have served as a large reservoir for the water destined for Bordeaux.

This old traditional sheepfold is called "courtiou". Formerly used by flocks of sheep and shepherds on their itinerant route, it has now almost completely disappeared. This sheepfold, moved at the beginning of the 20th century for pastoral purposes, was re-installed on this airial by the Conservatoire des Races d'Aquitaine in 2015. The building and the site of more than 800 hectares spread over the communes of Saint-Aubin-de-Médoc, Salaunes and Avensan will accommodate a shepherd and his 400 Landes sheep. Open to the public and schoolchildren, the sheepfold will be a place for the transmission of pastoral practices of yesterday and today.

Built in the 13th century and developed over the following centuries, it was the gateway to the medieval castle of the Veyrines seigniory of which it is the only vestige. With a height of 20 metres, it comprised four levels, the first of which was the entrance corridor At the end of the 14th century, it was walled at both ends and transformed into an oratory: the vaulted passage then became a chapel.
