Orbey is full of natural and cultural wonders. After exploring the left-hand side of the village, this new journey takes you to the other side, where you'll find a whole host of different atmospheres. Start in a fairy-tale forest where the stones tell legends. Then plunge into the military past of the First World War as you cross the Linge battlefield. The traces of the past have left exceptional landscapes where nature and culture are one. You can round off your day with a visit to the Linge Memorial Museum, which exhibits French and German artefacts found on the site. It's a must-see for all history buffs. From here, you'll gain altitude and gradually reach the typical landscapes. From here, you can see the rounded peaks of the Vosges massif, such as the Hohneck, on one side, and the Kaysersberg valley on the other. Then head for Lac Noir, your finishing point once you've circumnavigated it. At an altitude of 955 m, this small lake is sure to surprise you with its many unsuspected scenery. This new stage also marks the halfway point in the tour.

In a rural setting, walk to Labaroche, Orbey's neighbouring commune. A pleasant walk in the middle of the meadows where there is a succession of viewpoints. Go up to the ruins of the Hohnack castle. This long-distance hike will challenge and amaze you in equal measure. It brings together all the must-sees and uses the most beautiful trails to get there. Lac Blanc via Rocher Hans, Rudlin cascade via Roche des Fées and its footbridges, Lac Vert via the panoramic trail of the Tanet-Gazon du Faing reserve, the cirque of Lac des Truites and the tour of Lac Noir. All this in a single hike, whereas they are often presented independently of each other.

There is a legend about these curious stones. If a husband stood underneath them and moved the stone with his index finger, his wife's fidelity would be assured. In the heart of the Vosges Mountains, between the wine road and the Crest road, close to the adventure park take off your shoes and experience the nature. With family or friends enjoy this activity. You walk 1,2km barefoot on the ground of the forest but also on various materials such as sand, gravels, stones, wood, barks, pinecones and ever on a small river. Tricky Track is a state-of-the-art 4-season rail sled! The 1.1 kilometre track offers 700 metres of descent with a negative difference in height of 78 metres, a 450-degree spin, a tunnel, passages over the ski and bike slopes... It can reach a maximum speed of 40 km/h with an average gradient of 11% and a maximum gradient of 35%. Thrills guaranteed! Accessible to children aged 3 and over accompanied by an adult. Children up to 8 years old and under 1.25 m tall accompanied by an adult. Not suitable for pregnant women. Last-minute information, such as weather conditions preventing the activity from taking place, will be communicated on the Tricky-Track facebook page.

Located on the great ridge of the Vosges, between the Calvaire and Schlucht passes, this Nature Reserve ensures, on 505 ha, the protection of remarkable high moors and peat bogs as well as their setting of mountain forests. It shelters a remarkable but sensitive and threatened fauna and flora. Also, the impact of the human frequentation is particularly supervised. A discovery trail allows you to discover the different facets of the Nature Reserve. Every summer, a guide from the Conservatoire d'espaces naturels de Lorraine also welcomes the public on the grounds of the Nature Reserve.

The Rudlin waterfall is located a little over 100 m above the valley floor. The water flows from the top of a 10 m high rock into a basin that it has dug for itself, to leap from rock to rock down the slope. If you go up the narrow and steep path that runs along the stream, you will find the upper waterfall about a hundred meters higher. The stream divides into two branches where the water, in its rapid course, sometimes widening like a silver sheet, sometimes narrowing to fall in a single mass, forms a non-interrupted series of small waterfalls.

Le Lançoir sawmill (first built in 1611-1625) lies in the Straiture Gorge. Local timber has been sawn at Le Lançoir for centuries using the water from the mountain stream. A visit to this old hydraulically-operated sawmill, which is a listed historic building, reveals how difficult life was for the sawyers in the 19th century and how ingenious the men of the mountains could be. You'll also find out about the thousand and one advantages of the saw bench, a very carefully designed piece of machinery that was amazing, despite its apparent rusticity. Very efficient technology and marvellously simple.

Religious heritage dating from the 18th century. This church is located on the site of the former chapel which became too small.

On the second floor of the new public reception area LE TÉTRAS 1139 (to be refurbished in 2021), is the Espace De Découvertes - SCHLUCHT 1139. This space offers an interactive and playful visit on the history of the pass and its landscapes, as well as on the High Vosges and its natural and cultural heritage. An invitation to rediscover this emblematic site of the Vosges Massif.

Chapel with contemporary lines with its pyramidal shape and its glazed gable. It dominates, since 1960, the Shclucht pass. It has been awarded the label "Remarkable Contemporary Architecture". The chapel, by its great sobriety, calls for contemplation. Every summer, it hosts masses as well as a cultural program.

Lola and Jean-Philippe welcome you to their inn! Where it is good to warm up and have a good meal in a room equipped with a fireplace, or on the terrace which offers a breathtaking view of Orbey and its valley.
