Hiking itinerary: rando'bus Samoëns - Cirque du Fer à Cheval via Refuge de Folly

Located in the Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval nature reserve, this refuge can be reached in 3-4 hours' walk from the Fer-à-Cheval cirque.Comfortable and ideally located for star trekking or as a stopover on various alpine and wilderness circuits.

A starting point for numerous races and circuits, the Refuge du Folly is the perfect place to discover the extraordinary flora and fauna of our mountains. Accommodation in dormitories or bedrooms (comforters and pillows provided, bring your own silk sheet), half-board option, packed lunches, aperitif boards, soft drinks... but also local dishes of the day (diots, farcement, croziflette, fondue...) and homemade pastries (blueberry tart, lemon tart, sweet potato tart, chocolate coconut fondant...). Backing onto the slopes of Criou, facing Tuet and the ridges of Dents d'Oddaz, the refuge can be the goal of a day hike (to the famous Lac Des Chambres for example, or to Pointe de Bellegarde for the more motivated), or a base for more mountaineering-oriented itineraries (Pointe des Avoudrues). A veritable balcony overlooking the Giffre and Arve valleys, you'll never forget its sunsets!

A unique area with impressive rock faces, cliffs 2000 metres high, and hiking trails past numerous waterfalls.Some waterfalls at Fond de la Combe and Nants des Peres at Fer a Cheval are fed by glaciers. If you begin at the bar/restaurant at Plan des Lacs and look towards the Pic de Tenneverge, you'll see two notable waterfalls below the Corne du Chamois: la Meridienne , and to the right of that, la Pierrette. This is also called la Fontaine de l'Or and is one of the highest. Further to the right, on the cliffs of Le Fer a Cheval, are other waterfalls, for example the Joaton, Pissevache, the Lyre (one of the most beautiful), and the Genette. Even further to the right are le Saint-Jacques, la Citerne, le Folly, and la Massue waterfalls. Going in to the Fond de la Combe valley, to the left of the Corne du Chamois, there are many other waterfalls such as le Rejon, la Cage, la Scie, le Violon, and la Gouille. Leaving Fer a Cheval and following the Giffre downstream youi'll find the village of Le Brairet between Le Molliet and Les Curtets. Above this is Le Dard waterfall.

Entouré par les Dents Blanches, celui-ci offre un spectacle magique sur les rares sommets de plus de 3000 m (le Mont Buet, le Ruan, et le Pic de Tenneverge).
