The Lacot Valley
Description
From Saint-Hilaire, the route wanders between pasture and woodland, then descends into the Lacot and Boron valleys, before offering wider expanses and more open horizons - the landscapes of the bocage. Beautiful views of the Sancy.

For your own safety, always take a bottle of water, a hat, warm clothing and footwear suitable for walking.
Depending on weather conditions, certain itineraries are not recommended in bad weather (fog) or are not practicable, or even forbidden, during the winter season.
Some sites are fragile, so stay on the marked trails. Avoid picking wild flowers and disturbing wildlife. Pick up your garbage.
Animals are not allowed on some routes.
Guidebook with maps/step-by-step
1/ Go downhill on a track to the right, cross the D227 and join a small road; turn left on this road for 100 metres. Bear left to a faint intersection under a power line.
2/ Turn left on the path between two hedges (view of the Combrailles south). At the T-junction, turn right onto the D988. Turn right for 100 m and climb the small road on the left. At the entrance to the hamlet of Bellirat, turn left, then immediately right. Go downhill, cross a stream (the Boron) and climb back up. At the fork in the road, keep right until you reach the first houses in Lenchère.
3/ Turn left through the hamlet. At the crossroads, turn right and head downhill towards the Boron stream. Climb up to reach Viorennes. Turn right, then immediately left. Join the Lacot stream. Follow it on a balcony, ignoring the paths to the right and left, until you reach the intersection with the D103E (Le Manéchal).
4/ Go left for 150 m, then turn right. At the next two intersections, go straight ahead (view of the Combrailles). At the road, turn left to reach the D227.
5/ Turn left and take the path parallel to the road on the right. Cross a road, turn right onto a track, walk alongside a pond and continue straight ahead. At the intersection, turn left along a second pond and take the track opposite. At a livestock building, turn left, join the D988 and follow it to the left. After the "Saint Hilaire" sign, turn right and continue straight ahead on the track. Take the road on the left, then the grassy path on the right to reach the starting point.
