Cette boucle avec peu de dénivelé s'étend à l'est et au sud de la capitale administrative de la Champagne-Ardenne, au milieu des vastes étendues céréalières faisant toute la richesse de ces contrées fertiles. En commençant le circuit par L’Épine, la route surprend d'abord par son caractère rectiligne de 6 kilomètres au milieu des champs de couleurs. À l'arrivée au village, la basilique commencée en 1405 et achevée en 1527 dont les clochers ont été aperçu de loin est enfin proche, ainsi qu'une table gastronomique pour un repas très gourmand. Prendre la direction de Courtisols puis redescendre au sud sur la petite commune de Marson par la D79. À partir de là, deux solutions : soit direction Coupeville à l'est, soit Pogny au sud. Les deux finissent par se rejoindre, le premier passant aussi par Aulnay l’Aitre et sa réputée ferme du terroir. Il n'est pas rare d'apercevoir ici ou là, quelques éoliennes traçant tranquillement leur sillon... À Écury-sur-Coole, faute de pales géantes, ce sont des planeurs et autres engins motorisés que l'on peut apercevoir dans le ciel. Le domaine de Coolus enfin, centre pédagogique destiné à l'éducation à la nature, est facilement accessible aux portes de Châlons.
