Plain of Mercé

This natural and sensitive space marks the commitment to the preservation of biodiversity. This translates into a network of natural spaces, also known as the green and blue network. Green, in reference to natural and semi-natural terrestrial environments and blue for aquatic and wetland networks. These 2 components are superimposed in interface zones (wetlands and vegetation on the edges of waterways in particular) and form a whole intended to ensure the good ecological state of the territory.

Fountain of the Broca baths

From 1730 to 1748 the community of Gan, convinced of the therapeutic virtues of the waters of the Broca, began a series of requests to the Parliament of Navarre. Between critics and virtues, the waters of Gan had a certain reputation in the 18th century. They were ultimately little used and, despite the renting and the construction of an annex housing 4 baths, the traces of which can still be seen on the left, they fell into oblivion before the end of the 2nd World War. It will take half a century for us to be interested in it again. In the 20th century, they will take the name of "Roman Baths".

The mills on the Néez

Upstream from Gan, on the Néez, there were several flour mills and even a tobacco mill. A fine example of redevelopment to visit: the "Domaine le Vieux Moulin" intended to host private or professional events. Later, the water from the Néez was used for industry (marble, spinning, paper). As for the water from the canals that surrounded the city, it was used for industry: in 1864, Pierre Vignot used it to operate his plaster factory and his sawmill.
