Leave the car park towards the village of Pardies (D24). In front of the cross, turn right into rue Maubec for 1 km. On your left, notice successively a drinking trough and a restored washhouse. When the road rises, pass the first houses and leave the asphalted road to take the gravel path on the right. Follow the marked path on the right and cross the Trébessot stream, on the concrete footbridge. Go straight between the sports fields on the left and the river on the right towards the Mercé bridge.
Before the bridge, take the Chemin du Mercé to the left for 1km between meadows, stables and cornfields. At the intersection, cross the small bridge on the right and take Chemin du Vieux Moulin. Pass the Vieux Moulin, then turn right over the small bridges (sign prohibiting more than 3.5 tonnes) and cross the Néez to join the RD934.
Go about thirty meters to the right (direction North), then cross the RD934 road (Caution heavy traffic road). Join the path (PR2 GMP) which runs along the road, before going deeper into the undergrowth. Continue uphill through fields and a path to a ridge road (Pénen house).
Follow to the right (direction North) the asphalted ridge road between fields, vineyards and housing estates for 1.5 km. When you see the buildings of the “Famille Michaud apiculteurs” group, turn right on the grassy path (PR2 - chemin de Dissent) which descends. At the end of the road, continue straight on rue de Dissent. Go down until you reach the impasse Pablo Picasso on the left (2nd impasse).
Take 10m after to the left, the grassy path which goes up. Arrive at the top, take between the houses in the direction of the Bois du Broca (PR2). Go down in the wood following the yellow triangles on the trees, and reach the fountain of the Broca baths.
Cross avenue des Pyrénées, take rue des Castors opposite, then turn left into rue du Broca. Cross rue d'Ossau and go straight on rue de la Marbrerie and reach rue Pierre de Marca. At the STOP sign go left, then 50m later turn right towards the small bridge and cross the canal. Turn immediately left and take the path along the canal. At the Sainte-Catherine bridge, follow rue de la faïencerie to the right. Cross the Néez and turn left towards the car park.
This natural and sensitive space marks the commitment to the preservation of biodiversity. This translates into a network of natural spaces, also known as the green and blue network. Green, in reference to natural and semi-natural terrestrial environments and blue for aquatic and wetland networks. These 2 components are superimposed in interface zones (wetlands and vegetation on the edges of waterways in particular) and form a whole intended to ensure the good ecological state of the territory.
This beautiful hike of about 2h30 allows you to take a little height on the slopes of Jurançon and offers you the best of Béarn in terms of variety of landscapes: we pass in turn by the vineyards, the forest, as well as by paths countryside… This walk will take you to discover superb panoramas, the pretty Ghent bastide, the recently renovated “Domaine Le Vieux Moulin”, the Michaud honey house, the Broca baths…
From 1730 to 1748 the community of Gan, convinced of the therapeutic virtues of the waters of the Broca, began a series of requests to the Parliament of Navarre. Between critics and virtues, the waters of Gan had a certain reputation in the 18th century. They were ultimately little used and, despite the renting and the construction of an annex housing 4 baths, the traces of which can still be seen on the left, they fell into oblivion before the end of the 2nd World War. It will take half a century for us to be interested in it again. In the 20th century, they will take the name of "Roman Baths".
Upstream from Gan, on the Néez, there were several flour mills and even a tobacco mill. A fine example of redevelopment to visit: the "Domaine le Vieux Moulin" intended to host private or professional events. Later, the water from the Néez was used for industry (marble, spinning, paper). As for the water from the canals that surrounded the city, it was used for industry: in 1864, Pierre Vignot used it to operate his plaster factory and his sawmill.
