At the confluence of the Rance and the Tarn, a commune between hills and valleys, in the "Pays des Sept Vallons". A beautiful perspective on the Tarn Valley with Trébas, a green resort, and the site of Ambialet.
1- From the village, at the crossroads, take the road D555 towards Plaisance. After 300m, at the road of Lesparro, turn to the left on a dirt track.
At the end of a small rise, at the crossing of tracks, near a stone cross, go to the right. The path descends and meets the D555. Follow the road on the left on about 400m in the direction of St Sernin.
2- After the fork of Bousquet, turn to the right on a dirt track which goes down towards the river; the slope is steep. Once near the Rance, slightly overhanging the river, go to the right; pass in front of the ruins of an old hut in a rocky hollow. The path joins the bank of the Rance, and goes along it for about 1 km.
3- At the sight of the houses of La Bastide, turn to the right on a track which leads to the hamlet, cross it, and follow the road going up. After 150m, do not miss a small track on the left which will meet the road to La Vernière; follow it on the left up to this farm (mountain-bikers and horses will avoid the small track by continuing up to the fork of La Vernière).
4- Go around the farm on the right; after about 50m, leave the tar, follow a dirt track on the right for about 80m, then turn to the left. This track will rise gently to lead near a statue of the Virgin. Superb views over the confluence of the Rance and Tarn rivers and the Tarn Valley. To return to Solages, take the road to the village.
