Location complements

From Place d'Arlanc, take the D906 towards Ambert. Then turn off onto the D 300 towards Saint-Germain-l'Herm. Continue for 400 m to reach the Arlanc lake.

Reception complements

For your own safety, always take a bottle of water, a hat, warm clothing and footwear suitable for walking.
Depending on weather conditions, certain itineraries are not recommended in bad weather (fog) or are not practicable, or even forbidden, during the winter season.
Some sites are fragile, so stay on the marked trails. Avoid picking wild flowers and disturbing wildlife. Pick up your garbage.
Animals are not allowed on some routes.

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step

1/ From the Arlanc leisure center, cross the Dolore river. Take the second road on the right towards Dolore. At the entrance to the hamlet, climb the lane, then the track on the right (view of Arlanc). Follow the paths to the left, then to the right. Pass through Croches. At the crossroads, take the second track on the right. At the pond, take the road opposite.

2/ At Château de Mons (private), continue along this road to the left. At the Fouilloux farm, take the left-hand track. At the intersection, turn left. At the crossroads (view of the Monts du Forez), turn right; the track descends into a valley; cross a road before Champciaux, go up towards Best. On the level, turn right, continue straight ahead, cross Champciaux.

3/ At the heart of the hamlet, go straight ahead. At the fork after the last houses, turn right and stay on this downhill path (view of Forez). In the woods, continue on a footpath. At the crossroads, after the stream, turn right towards Bargues. Turn right onto the road, then right down the track.

4/ Turn right onto the D205. Turn left down the road towards Feraudet. Cross the stream and turn right. Go straight through Les Merleyres. At the crossroads, take the first track on the left (view of Forez). At the fork, take the left-hand track. Turn left again. At the entrance to Les Issards, turn right and follow the track to the left. At the crossroads, turn right. In the village, turn right and follow the road.

5/ At the Olme oratory, continue along the track opposite. Cross the road (fast-moving traffic) and go straight ahead. Cross the footbridge and turn right. Head for the church. At the church entrance, turn left. Cross the D906. Follow the road opposite to Château de Mons. After La Roche, take the left-hand track. Take the first track on the left (view of Arlanc). Follow the River Dolore to the start.
