This long, challenging route features several technical sections, including very steep ascents and descents on rough trails. It offers a chance to explore the beautiful valley nestled between Mount Riable and Mount Pied du Mulet.
The route starts at the visitor parking lot in Eourres. It first climbs through the center of the village before taking a trail that descends to the valley floor. The trail climbs back up along a mountainside path, then heads into the woods to join a trail that descends to the D201. Turn left, and after about 1 km on the road, the route leaves the road by crossing a bridge on the left. The route passes through a field before reaching the outskirts of the village of Lachau. Then, the trail heads back toward Eourres via a track that is quite steep in places. In a small valley, the trail branches off toward Pied du Mulet, passing through fields of lavender. It heads back toward Eourres, offering a bird’s-eye view of the village, and passes through fields and woods (caution: several sections with exposed drop-offs on the descent, particularly at the spot known as “la Petite”).
Let’s limit our trips and use public transportation and carpooling: zou.maregionsud.fr
Recommended bikes: mountain bikes and e-bikes. Be careful on the descent, which is very steep, and watch out for fence gates blocking the path in some places. Exercise caution: there are very technical sections and several dizzying spots on the descent (especially at a place called “La Petite”).
