Circuit du Forez - Les Hautes-Chaumes (cyclo loop n°5)
Description
This tour offers a chance to discover a natural environment that is still sometimes wild: the Livradois-Forez region, with its vast, undulating high plateaus such as the Hautes-Chaumes!
Along the way, you'll discover the Forez relief, such as the Hautes-Chaumes, vast moors where pastoral farming was once the rule, and where a few jasseries (shepherd's huts housing families and animals for cheese production) still remain. You'll also discover beautiful valleys with meandering streams.
On the first part of the itinerary, after skirting Lake Aubusson, you'll gradually discover the different types of vegetation, from vegetable gardens and orchards to moorland at the summit and the beech groves that have favoured the forestry economy.
Approx. 3 hrs 55 min. at an average speed of 20 km/h.
