A route entirely beneath the forest canopy and along unpaved paths, the Sequoia Trail lives up to its name from the very first steps.
In the heart of the Montfort State Forest, a vast 2,000-hectare woodland stretching across the slopes of the left bank of the Risle Valley, this hilly route reveals a remarkable variety of forest landscapes. The age of the woodland, the diversity of tree species and the changing play of light create a different atmosphere around every bend. Lovers of remarkable trees will be especially delighted: magnificent giant sequoias stand alongside centuries-old beeches and oaks whose impressive stature inspires quiet admiration.
Two visitor areas, Les Cateliers and Rond de Beuvron, provide convenient access to the trail. The French National Forestry Office (ONF) also offers guided tours for groups wishing to learn more about this exceptional forest. A map of the hiking and horse-riding routes is available from the Pont-Audemer Val de Risle Tourist Office.
The trail also crosses a section of the Saint Michael’s Way, the historic pilgrimage route linking Rouen to Mont-Saint-Michel.
With majestic trees and the peaceful silence of the woodland, this walk offers an unforgettable forest escape.
