Hiking trail: Mont Saint Jacques

Mont Saint Jacques has amazing views of the Tarentaise valley and the mountains of Mont Blanc, Beaufortain, and Vanoise. This lovely trail takes you through a wonderful setting, with an abundance of Swiss pines.
Drive to Plan Bois. From the small parking area near the Chez Laurette restaurant, follow the unmade road towards Plagne Bellecôte (P) for 10 minutes.

When you cross the often dried-up stream, fork left (P) and follow the well-marked trail that climbs through the forest. After arriving in a wide clearing, the trail continues its ascent through the Swiss pines. At the next junction, go right (P). The forest thins out little by little, making way for a flowery lawn inhabited by marmots. After this long crossing, the trail comes out onto a wide pass. Climb up the vast meadow to the right, and in 20 minutes you will be at the top of Mount Saint Jacques.

On the return journey, which takes the same route, you will discover completely different scenery.
