Overlookink a small mountain lake, this refuge of the Vanoise national park, on the GR5 and the Tour de la Vallaisonnay, proposes a great site seeing on the 3 highest peaks of Savoie.

Located at 2487 m, this refuge of the Vanoise National Park is located in the heart of the park on the route of the GR55 and Via Alpina. Its small lake, pastures and wildlife make it the ideal place for a relaxing stopover.

At the gateway to Vanoise National Park, the Barmettes Hut offers breathtaking views of the entire valley. In a truly majestic setting at this ideally located, warm and cozy Savoyard chalet, rest and relax or enjoy traditional local cuisine.In both summer and winter, you can reach the hut either on foot by taking one of hiking trails or the Génépi chairlift.

Back to basics: a warm and friendly, rustic, and peaceful atmosphere. Easy access: breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys, magical sunsets, and a majestic mountain cirque.Accessible to children, parents, grandparents, hikers, and climbers. You can even bring your pet with you to this wonderful setting. Pets are not welcome outside the National Park boundaries. Bivouacs are possible. Note: In June, some streams and/or snowfields can be difficult to cross due to snowmelt. Please contact the warden at the Refuge du Grand Bec beforehand.

The Church of St. Sigismund reflects the ups and downs of history. Its magnificent baroque decor coated with gold and cherubs tabernacle will dazzle you!Inside, you can admire a gilded altarpiece featuring cherubs. It was made by Jacques Clérant and Jean-Baptiste Gualaz in 1710. In the nave to the right, there is also an altarpiece of the Rosary dating from 1662 and attributed to François Cuénot from Chambéry. Framed between two mixed columns with caryatids, in the centre of the altarpiece, a high relief depicts the Virgin in Assumption contemplated by Saint Sigismund and a Virgin martyr: the sculpture is a virtuosity of movement and detail. On the entablature, angels assume acrobatic positions.

The valley of Champagny le Haut (1500m) enjoys the status of natural site since 1992 and is characterized by its traditional hamlets grouped, listed in the inventory of architectural heritage.Champagny le Haut, gateway to the Vanoise National Park, is located in a remarkable natural setting at the foot of famous peaks such as the Grande Motte and the Grande Casse and offers many hiking trails and a discovery trail accessible to disabled reduced. Camping and caravanning are prohibited outside the Huttopia Vanoise - Champagny campsite.

Located at more than 2500 meters elevation, Col de la Vanoise Pass is a fantastic place for anyone who loves spending time in the mountains.Hikers will marvel at the postcard-perfect decor, while mountaineers will use the pass as their starting point to climb the highest peak in Vanoise National Park, the mighty Grande Casse (3852 meters). During the summer, you can take the Mt. Bochor aerial tram or the Génépi Chairlift.

This fun hike to enjoy as a family takes you to the foot of the mighty Grande Casse, the highest peak in the Vanoise Range. From the lake, it takes 45 minutes to walk to the Col de la Vanoise Hut and the area’s other mountain lakes.For this relatively easy hike, you can use the aerial tram or Genépi Chairlift in summer to take you to a higher starting point. It takes approximately one hour to hike to the lake from the Les Barmettes hut, which is located right at the boundary of Vanoise National Park. You will be walking along what was formerly referred to as “Salt Road,” and will also see many marmots all along the way.
