Leaving Ribeauvillé, the Ribeaupierre town protected by its three fortified castles and gateway to the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park, head for Aubure, Alsace's highest village at an altitude of 800 m. Then join the Val d'Argent, a famous valley with a unique cultural heritage linked to the textile industry and the extraction of minerals (silver, copper, lead). The region is world-renowned for its European Patchwork Crossroads, a direct legacy of the valley's Amish population, and its Mineral & Gem Show, one of the world's Top 3 mineral fairs. Continuing on to Lièpvre, you'll pick up the pace again as you cross the Col de Fouchy and enter the welcoming, wide-open Vallée de Villé. Enjoy the bourgeois charm of Villé, a small mountain town with lively shops, before reaching Hohwarth and the emblematic hill of Saint-Gilles. You'll pass by the Château de plaine de Thanvillé, which marks the entrance to the valley, and then make another incursion into the Val d'Argent before climbing the road to the unmissable Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg, sentinel of Alsace. The tour ends with a quick stopover at Bergheim and the alsatian wine road.
