Les Franciscaines was founded in 1877 as an orphanage, then a military hospital, a domestic school, a vocational high school and finally a "home for the elderly sisters". Historic residence built in the early 20th century for Baron Henri de Rothschild, then acquired in 1924 by the American tycoon Strassburger and bequeathed to Deauville by his son in 1980.
