Mont Pigeon is not the highest point in Bruyères - the Fort steals the show - but it is nonetheless quite high and overlooks both Bruyères and Vorges. It is said that this "Mont" is split in two, with each village owning half of it, and it is said that children from Vorges and Bruyères used to come here to quarrel... And its name: why was the hill named after this friendly bird? Nothing very definite, but it is assumed that the pigeon must have flown there in large numbers a long time ago. Bruyères is better known for another creature, the wolf, named after the local militia in the 13th century. In any case, you may well come across one in the sky during your escapade in this beautiful wooded area where there is also a meadow co-managed with the Conservatoire des Espaces Naturels des Hauts-de-France. Enjoy your visit!
