This route, linking Bouillon and Herbeumont, combines three existing circuits: History 2 (short version), History 4 (The French Revolution), and Nature & Landscape 4.
If you plan to complete the full 59 km, make sure to start with a good breakfast and fully charged batteries — the route features several climbs and descents.
Highlights include the castle of Bouillon and the ruins of Herbeumont, but the spectacular viewpoints carved by the meanders of the Semois River are equally worth the effort. The scenery constantly shifts from forested hills to open valleys, passing through typical Ardennes villages.
The itinerary combines quiet country roads with unpaved forest and field paths, but certain sections follow busier roads, requiring some caution.
You’ll find restaurants and accommodation in the tourist hubs of Bouillon and Herbeumont, as well as several pleasant picnic areas along the way.
A free detailed cycling map with the full route and additional information is available at the local tourist offices — don’t hesitate to ask for it before setting off.
