This circuit is perfect as a warm-up before taking on the formidable mountain passes of the other sections. Onwards from Saint-Félicien, the historic cradle of the Ardèchoise, you come into green heartland. Continuing through the Cance and Ay valleys, this is the only route offering a panoramic view over the Rhône – and you could even pop across the river for a little trip into neighbouring Drôme. Land of inventors, among others the famous Montgolfier brothers who carried out their first hot air balloon flight over Annonay, and you'll see some great testaments to the area's rich industrial past. For the wine-lovers among you, the vineyards you pass through belong to the Saint Joseph.
