Guidebook with maps/step-by-step

1/ From the sign, take the main street towards Plauzat. At the fountain, turn left onto rue du Coudert. Pass the cross. At the fork, turn right. Go around the ruin to the left. At the 1st crossroads, turn right (180° panoramic view). Ignore all paths to the right or left, until you reach the information panel "Les Forts villageois de Limagne".

2/ Turn right downhill towards La Sauvetat. Cross the road and take the Chemin de la Sagne. After 200 m, turn left. At the crossroads, turn right along the Voie Romaine to the road (behind the post office, Roman bridge and wash-house).

3/ Cross the road and take rue du Chemin Haut. At the crossroads, turn left. Turn right at the cross (croix des Templiers). At the road (level with the cross), go left, then 1st right at the crow's-foot (chemin de Chalaniat) and left as far as the stadium. Follow it to the right. At the T-junction, turn right up Rue de Pranly (near Les Colombiers) to Place Chapitel.

4/ Opposite, enter the Forts district. For the signposted circuit, turn left and follow the alley winding through the Caves. Take the 1st turning on the left, and follow the road to the fountain in Place de l'Ormeau.
The tour of the Forts proceeds in a clockwise direction, starting from the center and moving outwards in a spiral. Pass in front of the church, turn right (Maison Vaudel, Donjon, Association des Amis de la Commanderie sign, on which you'll find the map of the Forts) and return to the entrance to the district, join the road and turn right for the outer tour of the fortified district.

5/ At the fountain in Place de l'Ormeau, turn left down the street. At the road, follow signs for Authezat for 100 m, then turn left onto chemin des Fauconniers. Continue along a grassy path. At a ruined wall in Authezat, turn right and stay on chemin des Fauconniers towards the church. Turn left into rue des Courtes. When you reach the main street, turn left and walk up to the parking lot.
