Created at the end of the 19th century to house the employees of the Péchiney and Solvay factories, Salin-de-Giraud therefore has an architecture characteristic of the workers' housing estates. Each of the two companies has built its city, its infrastructure, calling on a large foreign workforce, Italian, Armenian or Greek.
The village of Salin-de-Giraud is located to the south-east of the Camargue delta, in the town of Arles but 40 km from the city center. Located on the right bank of the Grand Rhône. Phone: 04 42 86 89 77 ot-arles@arlestourisme.com www.arlestourisme.com

Emblem of the Camargue, the flamingo owes in part its color to the carotene contained in its food. From spring, flamingos nest in colonies, the male and female in turn incubate the single egg placed in a mud nest. Gray at birth, the young flamingo will be able to fly around 10 weeks and will take on its pink color around 3 years old.
This artificial hill will allow you to discover the landscape from a high point, which is very rare in the Camargue. You can admire the landscape shaped by man: the salt tables used to collect salt and camels, rows of small hills that store it.
The Domaine de la Palissade is an un-dammed natural space that accompanies the last twists and turns of the river just before it meets the sea. On foot or on horseback, on an individual or guided tour, the trails allow you to discover a great diversity of landscapes and their associated fauna. www.palissade.fr - 04 42 86 81 28
This beach, the last land area of the delta, will strike you with its immensity. Piémanson Beach is just a tiny part of this 40 km stretch of coastline between the mouth of the Rhône and Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer. The width of this beach often reaches 250m and sometimes more than 500m: it is a rare sight.
