Guidebook with maps/step-by-step

1. From the Fontanettes parking lot, take the path that winds under the Gentiane chairlift up towards Mont Bochor (path no. 7).
2. At Mont Bochor, at the intersection, follow the path that leads to the top of the Ancolie chairlift across the Bochor plateau (path no. 8).
3. Continue towards Col Rosset (path no. 10), crossing the Creux Noir cirque. Stay on this path until you reach the chalet des gardes. The descent to the Cabane des Gardes often involves a névé, which you'll need to tackle with great care, depending on the state of the snow. Don't hesitate to give up and turn back rather than risk an uncontrolled slide.
4. Join the itinerary below which leads to the Barmettes refuge (trail no. 14) and then to the Fontanettes hamlet (trail no. 13).
You can shorten the ascent by taking the Mont Bochor cable car, then the descent by using the Genépi chairlift (subject to opening conditions).

VARIANTE: LAC DE LA PATINOIRE (2,512 m) (difficult) +1h round trip, + 120m ascent, + 1km
(in addition to main itinerary)
Follow the previous itinerary to stage 2.
1. At the footbridge leading to the Chalet des Gardes (trail no. 10b) (before crossing the torrent), turn left along the "sente" towards the Lac de la Patinoire (no signpost).
2. On the way down, join the Chalet des Gardes and then the refuge des Barmettes (trails no. 10 and 14).
3. Go down this path (trail no. 14), then, at Les Barmettes, follow the path to Les Fontanettes (trail no. 13).

Open period

From 01/07 to 31/10.

Subject to favorable snow and weather conditions.
