Description

A hike in the heart of the alpine pastures, with superb views over Lac de Vallon and Roc d'Enfer.

This hike goes to the heart of the story of the formation of Lac de Vallon, with a view of the "niche d'arrachement" (the start of the landslide) and Lac de Vallon, born in 1943. Discover this history with the illustrated panels at the lakeside.

From the parking lot, follow the road towards Bellevaux for a few metres, then take the forest road on your right. Follow it and, at the second bend, take a path slightly to your left. Cross the Chauronde stream and join the forest track leading to Tré le Saix. Follow this to the hamlet of Haute Meilleau. At the last chalet of Haute Meille (1), turn left. After 100 m, follow the steep track to the Tré le Saix mountain pasture.
At a crossroads, take the path on your left.
You pass the Tré le Saix chalets (2) and follow the path to Sur la Pointe (3), after a short passage through the forest. Below you, the village of Bellevaux and the Brevon valley. To the south lies Mont Blanc, and to the north, Lake Geneva and its Swiss shores. Return by the same route.
