This loop from Mirepoix will take you quietly to the village of Besset.
A family ride from Mirepoix to Besset on a beautiful hilly course.
Cross the D619, then turn right on rue Pierre Poisson parallel to the D619 until the next junction. Here, follow the yellow markers, climbing on the left by the street of orchids and pass the hamlet of Sibra.
At the Hamlet continue upwards. Pass close to the TV relay there, stay on the road that runs down the left and then come back and 400m further on a path that you take to the right.
Follow the track to a path junction. Here, take the wide path on the left, down beside a small thalweg on the stream Coume Longue to a T-junction.
Turn right towards Besset and join the D119 that you cross to go to Mirepoix along the wall of a property.
After 100m, outside the village, turn left down the path to the old track, and then pass between the support walls of an old bridge and turn right.
Follow the dirt road towards the place called "Las Graoussos" and rejoin Mirepoix by the place called "La Treyte".
At the roundabout take the first exit left towards the town centre, cross the second roundabout and take the first right (road to Mestrise) in the direction of the emergency centre that will take you to la Fontaine de la Nation behind the Monument aux Morts. From there, walk up the promenade des soupirs to the old station.
The Fountain of the Nation :
It was realized by the sculptor Griyere, price of Rome. We know that it was renovated in 1830 but nothing indicates the date of its creation.
