Long distance trail - the big tour of the valley - Stage 4

Let's set off for this stage in the heart of the mountains to conquer the lakes and get away from it all. From Lac Noir, head for Lac des Truites. At an altitude of 1061m, it's the highest lake in the Vosges massif, and one of the most beautiful! Nestled in its glacial cirque, it offers a picturesque backdrop comparable to Canadian landscapes, no less! Then reach the summit of the Tanet-Gazon du Faing nature reserve at 1306m. It's one of the most unspoilt and grandiose places in the world, with its natural moorland stretching as far as the eye can see. At the far end is Lac Blanc. The emblematic figure of the destination, you'll walk along its crest to take in the exceptional view across the valley to the Alsace plain.
The last stage of the day will plunge you into a completely different atmosphere. Alternating between nature and war heritage, the Tête des Faux massif offers a succession of surprising discoveries. Right in the heart of the forest, the Duchesne cemetery is revealed, where soldiers who fell in the First World War are laid to rest. As you approach the summit (1208m), a concentration of military works line the path, before giving way to a place filled with gentle tranquillity: the Devin pond. The hike continues to the village of Le Bonhomme, which marks the end of this stage.
